The key to a happy closet? Hitting the reset button every so often. These simple little wardrobe hacks will keep you and your closet in great fashion shape.
Replace your favorite white t-shirts every season. White t-shirts are really only good for a single season. Look under the arms. And collar. If you can’t quite part with it, try your hand at tie dye. It’s a fun trend that is actually quite timeless. If it turns out, great, you have a fun new layer for under your business casual blazer. During the holiday savings happening all around you, spend a few extra dollars on this essential basic. You won’t regret it. While you’re at it, look for white t-shirts in slightly different silhouettes. A crewneck tee is great for some outfits, but don’t forget the important v-neck tee. Or a face-framing scoopneck tee. One of each, please.
Introduce the color of the season in the simplest way possible. Style reports always come out with the color of the season. Can’t afford a full closet makeover for just a few months? Neither can we. Instead, think of your accent pieces. A scarf, belt, necklace – just like that, you’re on trend without even trying.
Admire your great jeans. If the hem of your skinny jeans is starting to fray a bit (we told you to get them to a tailor), don’t despair. Turn them into a shorter length. Not full cut-off shorts, mind you, but try cutting them to ankle length. Roll the ends, or leave them frayed. Voila, new look.
Flat-out fabulous. If a quick polish wasn’t enough to bring your favorite ballet flats back from the brink, invest in a new pair. Invest in a pair with cushioned insoles. The extra padding is necessary for the shoes you’ll reach for most. Make sure you have a pair in the essential neutrals: brown and black. Anything else can wait for the sale.
