Iron Knees Boy's Reinforced Pants FAQs

Iron Knees Boy's Reinforced Pants FAQs

My boys' pants always come home with holes. How can I make sure his pants last the rest of the school year?

It's a universal truth that all kids eventually come home with holes in their clothes. Active kids don't really think about holes in their pants in between games of tag, soccer and pretend. To your credit, you can sew patches or cut back on fabric softener, but you can't take the rambunctious out of the boy. Here's a tip: instead of buying cheap boys' chinos and mending them every couple of weeks, try looking for a pair of kid's pants with reinforced knees, like our boys' Iron Knees® chinos.

What are boys' pants with Iron Knees®?

Iron Knees are the reinforced fabric patches sewn into our boys' pants to prevent day-to-day wear-and-tear at the knees (no, they're not actually iron). Less wear at the knees mean less of a chance of them ending up in the garbage. Iron Knees were created with your back-to-school shopping list in mind, because they actually last an entire school year. He can climb, rough-house and slide on the soccer field without getting holes in his knees. The less clothes to buy, the more money you can save. Plus, the fabric patches are so comfortable that he won't even realize they're there.

Will the fabric patches in my boys' pants make him uncomfortable?

Everyone's been there: At the slightest itch, pinch or chafing, he throws his pants into the back of his closet, never to see the light of day again. You won't have to worry about boys' pants with Iron Knees® going "missing"—the fabric patches are made with polyester, which is super-soft on the inside and invisible from the outside. We wanted to make a pair of pants that gave you your bang for your buck without irritating your kids throughout the day and during school. It's the kind of reinforced knees they'll instantly forget about after putting on their clothes.

Are boys' pants with Iron Knees laundry-safe? Do you have any tips on how to take care of them?

Don't worry, there are no complicated instructions or big risks with putting boys' chinos with Iron Knees® through the wash cycle. You can wash them in the washing machine on cold and tumble-dry them on low to keep your boys' pants as comfortable as the day you bought them. But like we said earlier: loosen up on the fabric softener. It can actually make your clothes wear out a lot faster, Iron Knees or not.

The only pants my boy wears are boys' sweatpants and joggers. Do those come with Iron Knees, too?

We get it, kids dig comfort. Most boys prefer softer boys' sweatpants over jeans or chinos (but honestly, who doesn't?). Luckily for him, we included reinforced knees in all of our styles, from chinos, to jeans to, yes, even boys' joggers and sweatpants. We make them with the same exact process: a couple of extra-soft polyester fabric patches that'll blend in perfectly with his favorite pair of boys' sweatpants. There's a little something for everyone, whether he wants to dress up in chinos or kick back in cozy joggers.

A better pair of boys' pants saves you a lot of headache in the long run.

If you invest in more durable pants with reinforced knees, there's no need to make room in your budget for yet another shopping trip. Kids' pants with Iron Knees® are designed to last even longer than the average pair of pants. Plus, they'll keep your kiddos comfortable so they can focus on more important things, like schoolwork (it's worth a shot, anyway).
