Mother’s Day is one of our favorite celebrations of the year. While every day is an opportunity to show the mom in your life how much you appreciate them, Mother’s Day is just one of those wonderful feel-good holidays that everyone loves. While you and the family may not be taking a day trip to celebrate the day this year, there are plenty of fun and special ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home. Whether you’re celebrating your own mother, your wife, your sister, or even your grandmother, we have some wonderful ideas that are perfect for any mother in any generation.
Start the day off right by surprising Mom in bed with loads of hugs, kisses, and perhaps a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Surprise her while she’s still nestled in her bed sheets with a loving good morning fit for Mother’s Day. You can also bring her flowers, a cup of her favorite freshly squeezed juice, or a handmade card for Mother’s Day. Starting the day off in a special way from bed is the best way to be sure to set the tone for feeling special all day long.
One of the classic ways to celebrate Mother’s Day is to go out to a big brunch. Bring brunch to you this year by enjoying a big celebratory Mother’s Day brunch right at home. Make the dress code women’s pajamas and robes to make it feel like breakfast in bed. If you like to cook, whip up some of Mom’s favorite breakfast specials for a homemade brunch to remember. Otherwise, call up her favorite brunch spot and order takeout so she can enjoy her favorite brunch specials from the comfort of home. Did someone say mimosas?
The perfect touch to celebrate this spring holiday is with a bouquet of flowers. Flowers are the classic gift for Mother’s Day and the perfect way to make all the mamas in your life feel loved and special. When celebrating at home, don’t be shy to go all out and fill the house with flowers. We especially love tulips, lilies, roses, and daisies for spring. Just think how wonderful Mom is going to feel coming downstairs in the morning to a kitchen filled with her favorite flowers. Another great idea is to buy her some planted herbs or flowers that she can then plant in her garden to enjoy all summer long. Flowers are also a wonderful gift to send to the other mothers in your life. If you’re not living with your mother, be sure to send her some flowers to brighten her day.
Do something special at home for Mother’s Day this year by simply enjoying an activity as a family. This could be playing a game, doing arts and crafts, or baking Mom’s favorite cake. This could also be a nice opportunity to go through old family photos, family home videos, and other family memories to tell stories, laugh, and simply enjoy connecting with one another as a family. Enjoy a picnic outside, a nice walk, or cuddle up together with a movie.
If you’re not going out for Mother’s Day, there’s no reason to not get dressed up at home. A fun way to make Mother’s Day feel special at home is to put on that favorite summer dress) and celebrate. Dress up the kids, the whole family, and even your beloved pets to make the day feel special. Tell Mom to slip into her favorite clothes, too, so everyone feels like there’s something to celebrate today, even from home.
Chances are that Mom also longs for some peace and relaxation. Make sure to set her up for some R&R this Mother’s Day by bringing the spa experience to your home. Light some candles, put on some relaxing music, and run a bubble bath. Let her have some spa time so she can unwind, relax, and enjoy a little self-care. Be sure she has a fluffy women’s robe to put on afterward to get the full home spa experience.
Does Mom have a favorite meal or cuisine? Make her feel celebrated and special at home this Mother’s Day by coming together as a family to cook her favorite meal or cuisine. You can even make her favorite themed dinner and cocktails.
Even if you’re celebrating Mother’s Day at home this year, that doesn’t mean it can’t be special. Try some of these ideas and we’re certain you will be enjoying your most memorable Mother’s Day.
