Women's Plus Size Modern Down Long Parka
My favorite Coat!
I gained weight and had to order a new winter coat. So far I have ordered two different colors of this exact coat. It's very roomy. I am a petite, so the sleeves are long and I don't need gloves when I take my dog outside. It's long on me, longer than just a jacket. I like the double zipper concept, although it does hang up sometimes and I have to position the zipper parts carefully. Pockets are very warm. It's nice to have a choice of zipper or snaps or both. The hood covers my face enough to keep the wind off on very windy, cold days. I live in a colder area of the country. I am considering a third color, because I don't think I will ever find another coat I like better for cold days, even if I get skinny again!

Very warm winter coat
This coat has a lot of fill so it's warm, even on the coldest winter day! It doesn't feel 'heavy' like it's weighing you down, but I think the lightweight fabric creates a problem with this coat. The feathers come right through it. I'm constantly pulling feathers out or finding them in the car and closet. I chose the Black coat and you can visibly see the white feathers poking through. Lose 1 star....
Lose 1 more star for a problem I have with ALL Lands End Coats...the dreaded double zipper!! I HATE the double zippers, I have yet to ever need to unzip the bottom of my coat. It's a pain to get the zipper going with two zippers. (this coat isn't too terrible, my LE rain coat is a nightmare) Longingly awaiting the day when the double zipper is a thing of the past.

Warm, but wide from bust to hips.
I sized up because of the review that suggested there was no room for layers; so instead of 1X I ordered a 2X. The chest does fit well with a bulky sweater underneath, but from the bust to the hips it's wide. This coat needs a belt or an inside drawstring through the middle, take the back tabs off the back. The back tabs do nothing except make your butt and hips look wider. :(. The coat is warm, the pockets are heavenly warm and soft fleece lined; and the hood is attractive with the fur and does stay up. I'm keeping it, because the sale on price is so reasonable. I guess I'll have to try to put a drawstring through the middle to make the style look more attractive on me.

for near blizzard conditions.... but no room for layers!
Layering is the best way to stay warm and dry, so I don't understand why this parka is not designed with the added roominess needed for layering undergarments. I ordered my correct size, 16W, which should have been amply big since 0X is supposed to be a 16-18, but its too tight to wear anything underneath except a thin shirt. Since I don't live in an extremely cold climate, I haven't fully decided to return it yet because all the other features are great, it was a great price, and they are out of the color I want. (Someone may be getting a great gift!)
As for the person who complained about the hood being to deep and close the face... It's a PARKA!
Parka hoods are designed to only expose your eyes and nose when fastened up and are for extreme cold situations, not the kind you pull off and on willy-nilly.

Great quality and good looks.
I received this coat earlier this week, just in time for a cold front to blow through. Prior to ordering this one, I had ordered two down coats from a tried-and-true (I thought) company known for its quality. I have a coat of that brand that is now about 12 years old and was looking to replace it. The quality was SO poor (puckered seams, thin material, poor fit), I sent both back. I then ordered this coat from Land's End. The quality is very similar to my old down coat (same color), the fit is spot on, and it even has some shaping to it, rare in a down coat -- ha! Yes, it's puffy, but I expect it to be puffy. I like the fact that it has not only the two-way zipper, but also the storm flap with snaps. If you're in a hurry, you can just snap a couple snaps and off you go. I'm a plus size, and a couple things I noticed about the fit of this coat compared to the others I had ordered/returned from the other company: The bust shaping on this coat is in just the right spot. The others had the bust apex seaming much too low, which looked really frumpy. Secondly, this coat fits nicely through the shoulders. The others I returned from the other company, in order for the shoulders to fit, I had to order up a size (and I even have narrow/sloping shoulders), then everything else was too big. This is my third Land's End down coat. I just wore my aqua one today, and also have a long red one. Tonight I ordered one of the sale down coats in a "brick" color, also at a great price. Keep up the good work!

very good with one exception
This coat fits perfectly except the hood which is too deep but also too small around a face. Now I am thinking how can it could be fixed . It will be really painful to send it back because it is first coat that fits me perfectly and I tried many of them during last weeks. I was skeptical buying this coat thinking I will look bigger because it has horizontal stripes and look puffy. It is exactly opposite , I bought 3X brown and I am 5.6" and chest 46D.
Price is reasonable after sale and coat doesn't look cheap, it is good quality.
I recommend this coat for any person who wears a hat instead of a hood.
I wonder if other buyers have the same problem with this hood or it is only me ( I have that problem first time )

I have never ordered from Land's End, but a friend has, so I took a chance and bought this down jacket in a 3X. I wear a 44H bra, and was terribly worried that it would not even zip up at my chest. It not only zipped, but I have some room, and it feels like it was meant for me! Roomy enough for chubby me, I am 5 foot 6...and broad shouldered. Apple shape I have to admit...but I am so happy with this jacket I am going to search for a long down one here and see how it goes...this shipped in just 4 days too, all the way to Canada...great speed, great fit, will be fabulous this winter--Winnipegger here. I tried a 3X at Additionelle last week, and it was snugger than anything, I would not have been able to wear that one, and their 4X was a bit big in places. Land's End, great fit, sized well...I am very happy!! :)
