Lands’ End School Announces 2019 Lands’ End School Starboard Scholarship Recipients
Seven students to be awarded $10,000 each to support their continued education

DODGEVILLE, WIS. April 12, 2019 –Lands’ End School, a leading supplier of high-quality uniform apparel and logo embroidery to over 5,000 schools internationally, has announced the winners of the 2019 Lands' End School Starboard Scholarships. The scholarships recognize students in grades six through 12 who display exceptional leadership skills. Each winner was selected from more than 2,500 applicants nationwide.

“We’re so impressed with the talent and promise that these students exhibit,” said Joe Ferreri, senior vice president, Lands’ End Business Outfitters. “We created the Lands’ End School Starboard Scholarship as a way to recognize the next generation of young leaders as they steer us into the future. We’re proud to support these students and the schools that we outfit so they may continue to grow and lead.”

The seven recipients are:

  • Krista Mtowela, a sixth-grade student at Fellowship Christian School in Kitchener, Ontario
  • Celine Glavan, a seventh-grade student at The Madeleine in Portland, Oregon
  • Esther Heerema, an eighth-grade student at Desert Springs Christian Academy in Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Lucas Sherron, a ninth-grade student at Aquinas Senior High School in Rochester, New York
  • Maria Cheriyan, a 10th-grade student at Detroit Country Day Upper School in Beverly Hills, Michigan
  • Reilley O’Loughlin, an 11th-grade student at Christian Academy of Indiana in New Albany, Indiana
  • Karina Babina, a 12th-grade student at Trinity Christian School in Concord, New Hampshire¬†

Launched in 2018, the Lands’ End School Starboard Scholarship provides financial support to students, and their schools, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. As part of the scholarship, recipients receive $10,000 dollars to support their education. In addition, the scholarship winners’ schools receive up to $5,000 and a $500 Lands’ End gift card to help support learning and uniform initiatives. In a nod to the company’s sailing roots, Lands’ End School chose Starboard as the name for the scholarship because the starboard side of the ship is how early sailing vessels were steered to the correct direction. The Lands’ End School Starboard Scholarship recognizes the next generation of young leaders as they steer us into the future.
