No coffee fetching. No dry cleaning to pick up. No paperwork to file. At Lands' End, we take training the next generation of designers, merchandisers and retail fashion strategists seriously. Our internships for graduate and undergraduate students, and our advanced training programs for recent college grads, pair you with the best people in the industry. And then we put you to work.
Our interns and trainees do market research. They take on big cross-functional projects and take part in the full design process. When they speak in meetings? People listen. They've even made presentations to our CEO.
And when it's over, our students and grads have invaluable professional relationships and real job opportunities with retail fashion companies all over the world. Including us.
Will a Lands' End learning experience put you on the path to a Lands' End career? It did for Alex and Myranda. Check out their stories:
Alex Wilson attended the University of Cincinnati, studying fashion design and product development. Before Lands' End, Alex worked at another specialty retailer. But after interning with us, he decided to stay on. "During my first few weeks on the job here, I was given a lot of responsibility and had to pitch a new tie design to my boss," said Alex. "I was a bit nervous because there's always an array of personalities, and I didn't know what to expect. But I became comfortable because the team was very receptive to my ideas. You can speak up at meetings and know that everyone will be helpful because they want you to do well." Now Alex works on a design team in men's casual wear.
Myranda Hausheer earned a degree in fashion marketing and management from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri before she joined Lands' End. She was hired after completing our Assistant Merchant in Training program for recent college grads. The 13-week program gave Myranda on-the-job learning experiences and challenged her to develop a business idea for a new Lands' End product line. Now she's an Assistant Merchant focused on special sizes. "The leadership team sets you up to be successful. They are very hands-on, willing to help you learn. It's a teaching atmosphere. They are friendly and eager to answer your questions."
