Which Spring Trends Are Worth the Hype?

Fashion trends come and go, but some stick around and become fashion staples. But how does one know which fashion trends actually have staying power and which ones will fizzle out over time? Part of knowing is listening to both your gut reaction and what fashion experts have to say. Basically, just practice good common sense, stay true to your style, and do a little research on what is trending. In this post, we will help you out with the research component.

Let’s take a look at some of the 2022 spring trends you will be seeing more of and understand which ones are really worth the hype.

Solid, Monochromatic, and Bright Colors

You know what you will be seeing a lot more of this spring? Color! And we don’t just mean blossoming flowers, green trees, and sunny, blue skies, we mean you will be seeing a lot more vibrant color in people’s clothes. Monochromatic style has been a thing for decades, but this spring season, be prepared to see a lot more of it in bright, bold colors like magenta, lime green, yellow, and especially periwinkle ala Very Peri as the Pantone Color of the Year. The styling is simple: Stick to one solid color for the entire outfit. It doesn’t matter what outfit it is, the style trend is focusing on the bright color of the outfit. Maybe it’s a bright pink suit with a bright pink tailored blazer and bright pink trousers. Or it could be a lime green bodycon dress or a sunny, yellow maxi dress. Color is in and we’d say everyone could use some cheery, bright color in their lives.

Low-Key Luxury

Anything with the high-low look is in this season. The high-low style trend has steadily seeped into the world of fashion and it’s not going anywhere this spring. In fact, you are probably going to be seeing a lot more of it. In our earlier point, we talked about bright colors, but with low-key luxury, the focus is on subtler, quieter, neutral tones, like beige and black. Like the bright, solid, monochromatic color trend, there isn’t any one specific article of clothing or fabric you need. It might be a pair of silky, satin trousers or a vintage trench coat. Maybe it’s a beige cashmere cardigan with a white, pleated midi skirt. The key is to stick with casual clothing staples and give it a twist of luxury.

Platform Shoes

When we talk about fashion trends, we can’t forget to mention footwear! You will definitely be seeing a few footwear trends popping up this spring, but one of the most popular choices with the greatest staying power will be platform shoes. Chunky heels, soles, and wedges have resurrected from the early 2000s and are here to stay well into the spring and summer season. In the fall and winter, it’s all about chunky boots, but come spring, you will be seeing a lot more chunky clogs, sandals, flip-flops, and heels. We’d venture to guess most people are totally fine with this; not only will you be wearing on-trend footwear, but footwear that offers a lot more support and comfort than other choices. Wondering what to wear with platform shoes? Try platform strappy sandals with a black tailored blazer dress or multi-colored platform flip-flops with a flowy, summery maxi dress.

Maxi All the Way

Maxi never really went out of style, but it wasn’t really the focal point for a while. However, this spring, you will likely see more people returning back to the maxi length in lieu of the midi length. Maxi dresses and maxi skirts are making a big comeback. You don’t even need a flashy color or intricate design for this style to be eye-catching; the long length of the skirt or dress gives it a lot of visual appeal and elongates your figure, creating a very flattering fit. Maxi dresses, long, lightweight sweater dresses and maxi skirts also just have an intrinsically fresh, warm-weather look to them and pair well with all kinds of tops, ranging from strapless satin tops to blouses to bralettes.

The School Look

The uniform look of school attire is not only trendy in the classroom but also everywhere else you go this spring. You can create “school-themed” outfits that are preppy without being too prim or stuffy. Think pleated skirts, socks and loafers, and V-neck knits. Black vests over white short-sleeve blouses and ’60s-inspired school fashion will be hitting it big in 2022. The look can be kept simple too, with common patterns, solid colors, and fashion staples you probably already have in your wardrobe. Everything from black pleated miniskirts to collared polo shirts to form-fitting athletic shorts to wide-leg women’s yoga pants will be in the spotlight this season.
