When it comes to plus-size swimwear, tankinis tick all the boxes. They’re supportive, comfortable and sophisticated, making them a summertime staple. Lands’ End tankinis also come in a variety of styles and are made with UPF 50 material that keeps you safe in the sun.
If you want to show off your décolleté, try a bandeau tankini with removable straps. A modest v-neckline reveals a touch of cleavage and the sewn-in soft cups provide a little boost. When you feel like it, add the straps, which can be worn over each shoulder or in a crisscross pattern.
We use Shape & Enhance™ technology in our tummy control swimwear and tankinis to help you look amazing. This special fabric is knit tightly in some places, like the midsection, to firm your figure. In other areas, including the sides and beneath the bust, it’s more relaxed for a natural effect.
A drape, ruffle or blouson tankini top subtly hides your tummy. The flowing fabric won’t cling to trouble spots, making these styles great for a post-pregnancy body. A fly-away overlay has the same effect, and you can even add a pretty cover-up if you like.
Women with a fuller chest might prefer an underwire bra tankini. You’ll look and feel like you’re wearing your favorite bra, but you’ll be ready to go for a swim whenever you want. With the reinforced stitching, there’s no need to worry about getting poked or scratched.
Do you want something a little more modest on your lower half? Skip the bikini bottoms and put on one of our swim skirts with a built-in panty. If you’re prone to sunburns or just have sensitive skin, try swim capris for a little extra coverage you can enjoy in and out of the water.
Womens swim shorts are also a good choice if you want extra coverage. Try some that hit mid-thigh, or choose a pair that reach down to your knees. They’re also nice for running around with kids, body boarding and grilling by the pool.
Look for wide straps if you’re larger on top. Unlike spaghetti straps, they won’t dig into your skin and leave angry red marks. They’ll give you a bit of lift while minimizing pressure on your shoulders as well.
We also have tankinis designed for women who’ve undergone mastectomies. They’re wonderful if you wear different sizes on top and bottom, as you can order what you need instead of settling for a suit that’s tight in one place and loose in another. Each top also has pockets for your breast prostheses, too.
Before buying a tankini, think about what you’ll use it for. If you’re just lounging on beach towels with a friend, a strapless top is fine. Swimming laps and chasing after kids calls for more support though, so choose something that works with your lifestyle. If you’re a water aerobics fan, look for chlorine-resistant fabrics to ensure your investment lasts through the season. And remember to add a swim tee. UPF 50 sun protection is a must, in and out of the water.
