Stylish Workwear for the Busy Mommy

Stylish Workwear for the Busy Mommy

Moms are like superheroes. They have so much to do on a given day, whether working in an office or working at home. Moms definitely need workwear that’s as versatile and hard-working as them, as they make meals, clean up after the kids, feed the pets, schedule teleconferences, and drive through rush-hour traffic trying to sip coffee without it spilling on them. And there’s no reason moms should have to sacrifice style for durability and comfort. So if you’re a busy mom who’s ready to update your work wardrobe, here are our recommendations for workwear that’s as versatile and stylish as you are.

For the On-the-Go Mom

Some days, it seems like you can’t even get comfortable at work without needing to get up again and hit the road. Carpools, meetings, errands over the lunch hour, daycare drop-offs and pick-ups, after-school activities, and more are all common tasks moms have to juggle. Sometimes, they may even require you to get to opposite ends of town in little time, leaving no time for yourself to even collect your thoughts. All the sitting and standing — and sitting and standing again — require wrinkle-resistant and comfortable clothes. On a typical day in any season, some high-waisted pants that are wrinkle-free are ideal. Wear them with a nice sweater during the colder months, or tuck a sleeveless top into them during summertime with a blazer on standby for important meetings. You’ll have the comfort and durability to keep you going and look good doing it!

For the Work from Home Mom

All moms work from home, but if you’re a mom that also has a full-time or part-time job to juggle while being a mom, you’ll need workwear that allows you to do both. Even if your kids are at school for a good portion of the day, there are still morning breakfasts to make, lunches to pack, dishes to do, and typical day-to-day tasks to keep the household running. If teleconferences are part of a given day, what you wear for bottoms won’t be as important as what you wear for a top. Again, keeping a stylish blazer near your computer in the event of an impromptu teleconference will be ideal, as you can put it on over whatever you might be wearing with little notice, even if it’s shorts and a T-shirt. Other than that, some comfy work-from-home clothes like leggings or jeggings look great with tunics and long sweaters during colder seasons.

For the At-Home Daycare Mom

Lots of moms play the mom role to more than just their own children. Running an at-home daycare is a great way to make money while also being able to be home for their own kids. For moms who run daycare services from home—or any home business for that matter—they need clothing that looks stylish and professional but also feels comfortable enough to wear while cleaning up messes and picking up toys. For that matter, look for tops that are not only wrinkle-resistant but also stain-resistant. Clothes with moisture-wicking properties are also ideal, as they dry quickly and keep you cool.

For the “I Need to Squeeze in a Workout” Mom

It could be a long walk on your lunch hour, a quick stop at the gym, or an impromptu yoga session between conference calls—whatever your go-to activity is, sneaking in a workout is a great way to give yourself some “me time” and give yourself an energy boost during the day. If you can fit a workout into your day, just know that it doesn’t have to be strenuous or take up too much of your time. Wearing a skort with an active polo shirt during the summertime is a great way to look professional while keeping cool during a brisk walk. During winter, clothes that are easy to put on and take off are great for trips to the gym. For example, a tunic and leggings look great together, are comfortable, and are easy to change out of and back into before and after your workout.

Try to Accessorize

You may be busy and not have a lot of time to think about yourself, but that doesn’t mean you should avoid wearing whatever makes you feel special, whether it’s earrings, a nice necklace, a special watch, or a fashion scarf. Taking an extra few seconds of your time in the morning to add a little something to your look can not only make your outfit look stylish but also make you feel good as you tackle your day.

With these workwear staples on hand, even the busiest of moms will be able to tackle whatever the day throws at her, in comfort and in style.
