Women's Squall Parka
Perfect with pants and cold weather
Nice warm parka with plenty of pockets. Fits well and is a lovely dark purple. I especially like that it can zip up high to block wind from getting in at the neck.

Wonderfully warm and rain repellant.
I purchased this coat for a winter vacation in a cold and often damp and rainy area. It was the best purchase we made. I was warm through out the day and on those days we experienced rain, I was dry. We had a couple of days of high wind and again the coat performed. The hood was great for the rain and wind.
The pockets were very well placed and the inside zippered pocket was helpful to place a small change purse for the day's money. The outside seamed pockets were helpful to have a place for things you had to have handy but did not need often (train ticket, receipt). The pockets with snaps were handy for gloves and things you needed frequently.
Over all, this was a great coat and fit the purpose we needed.

Still don't make 'em like they used to :(
I LOVE the squall parka I got several (10?) years ago. I tried another two years ago, and the sleeves were too tight for comfort. I decided to try again this year because the zipper broke on my old medium size parka. I got a large (5'8", 160 lb), and it's just "OK". It's a little big, except for the sleeves, which are still a little tight, and a bit long as well. I do appreciate the double zipper and the hand warmer pockets - though I wish all the pockets were a bit bigger, like my old parka. I'm trying to get used to the coat blocking my chin when I zip it up, and to having to unzip to take the hood off or put it on. Once again, the old style for the hood was so much more comfortable and easy.

My mother and I both bought this jacket and agreed that it is just to narrow to be practicable. I have two other LE coats (both smalls since I usually wear a 6-8) but wanted the extra space to wear this one with a sweater so I went up to a medium (10-12). That was a no-go. Although the sleeves are an excellent length and I love the color, the fit across the back was too tight. After having the same problem with the medium, my mom tried the large and it was huge on her. Any jacket labelled 'squall' that doesn't account for snow shoveling is going back to the store! I doubt this would even be comfortable to drive in. LE quality really does frustrate me...

Almost love it
I bought this parka in a Petite S, the purple. I am about 117 lbs. It fits great if I only wear a very thin sweater under it. A thicker sweater makes it feel snug in the arms (a thinner sweater should be all I'll need). The hood is big enough to keep rain, snow, and wind off of my face and head. The nylon outer shell of the coat will keep the wind blocked. A great choice for walking in the winter weather.
I am not crazy about the stiffness of the coat at the top of the zipper, by the neck area.
My main gripe: the velcro fasteners. I think it is a cheap short cut and would prefer snaps. The velcro will make a mess of my scarves. But, I need this parka, and of all the other parkas I tried, this one still came closest to what I was looking for.
I will be very disappointed, however, if I find that this style went back to snaps in next year's version, and here I'll be stuck with the velcro...this parka should last me a long time (but lucky for the buyers who get snaps the first time:)

Lightweight, yet very warm.
I love my new coat. We've already had some bitterly cold days this fall, and my coat has kept me nice and warm. My previous coat was a warm one as well, but was heavy and bulky. The Lands End parka is lightweight. The draw string around the waist on the inside of the Lands End coat makes it possible to lock out the wind. The hood is lined and warm. The only criticism I have is that I would redesign the collar. When zipped up completely, the collar covers my entire neck and mouth. To me, this is uncomfortable and is irritating when I have to turn my head sideways, such as when I'm driving. To deal with that, I just don't zip the zipper up all the way. I think it would be better to have the zipper stop below the chin and add a velcro collar that you could close around your neck if your out in the cold, but could unfasten if you don't want the collar closed.

Perfect petite jacket!
This jacket has a nice line to it and not too tight around the thighs. It's warm, comfortable, and the sleeves are the perfect length. I love all the pockets and the warm wrist cuffs are great. I ordered wild cherry and am glad I did. Looks great!

The velcro ruins this jacket for me.
I bought this for the long walk from my garage to my office, and it would be perfect if not for the velcro that closes the flap over the zipper. Today I ruined yet another good blouse by getting it stuck on the velcro. I am going to send it to Goodwill because I can't afford to ruin my work clothes.

Great for all weather
This coat is warm, and I love the attention to detail - lots of different pockets, removable hood, warm wrist cuffs, and sides that cinch so the coat fits in a more flattering way. Most importantly, it really is perfect for all kinds of winter weather. I've been wearing it in dry, cold weather for a few weeks but this weekend we got some wet weather and I wore it in the snow (stayed warm and toasty!) and in a downpour of rain. The coat kept me warm and thoroughly dry during the rain, and when I came in all I had to do was kind of towel it off and it was ready to go for the next time. My mom has had one of these coats for years and years. I would highly recommend it!

Parka Delivers the Goods In Cold Weather
I bought this coat for my mother who lives in southern Ontario, Canada. She was very pleased with the overall quality and the warmth this parka provides. Only issue was the size medium was a tad too big but decided not to exchange for a small. She raves about this coat all the time!
