Women's Squall Parka
I really like how well this Squall Parka fits true to size, the fabric and how well it is made. The only fault that I can find with my new parka compared to my older Land's End Squall Parka is the stiffness of the collar. I can not wear it zipped all the way up, because the top of the zipper is stiff and sticks me in the neck under my chin. I also do not like the rigging in the hood. I like the quality and fit of my new parka, but prefer the hood and the softer collar on my 12 year old squall parka. Love the parka as a whole, will just wear a scarf around my neck and will be set to go on those cold winter days.

Fabulous coat which is very warm and keeps you dry
I spoke with the Lands End Rep to get the exact measurements of the coat because I did not want to return it. I decided to get a larger size since I do a lot of layering in the winter. It is the best coat and I appreciate having it during this challenging weather!

perfect on a cold winter day
I ordered this jacket and it arrived two days before the freezing cold temperatures did. It has kept me toasty warm on these below zero days. I ordered a 1X and it fits me perfectly. I find it very flattering and the red colour is so pretty. I also like that I can unzip from the bottom so the jacket is not binding when I sit in the car. Well done LE.. This coat is a keeper.

Had to have another one
I had one of these coats for 12 years. Every year I kept saying I was going to get a new coat, but there was nothing wrong with it and I loved the top pockets and how warm it was. There were all those special pockets where I put my gloves, headband, and other things. I was just getting tired of the color. Every year I would look at many other name brands, but could find none that had all the things I like about this coat. I didn't think Land's End was still in business and someone told me to Google them. I found the same coat, with a few upgrades, that still has the same angled front pockets. It seems to be more waterproof than the old one, but that may be because the old one had been washed many times. It fits the same and has all the options I love, and is very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like about the old coat was that the zipper was hard to get started. The new one seems a little better, but still not great. Sometimes I just use the velcro if I'm in a hurry. I gave my old coat to my sister and she loves it.

It's great, but...
The fit, color, and warmth of this parka are excellent. I wore it when it was -1 F and windy in Boston and I was truly comfortable. Overall, this the best winter coat I have ever owned, but there?s no getting around the fact that the zipper is deficient. Over the years I have owned a dozen coats, jackets, and sweatshirts that have double zippers and I have never had difficulty zipping any of them. When I took my new parka out of the box and saw that it came with zipping instructions, I knew it had to be in response to the many complaints people have about this zipper. I don?t need a tutorial for something as rudimentary as a double zipper ? it?s not me, it?s the product. Land?s End, you owe us all a better zipper.

Very warm parka
I love this parka. It fits great and is very warm. I think it will be a good coat for skiing -- long enough to keep your seat warm on the lift and heavy enough to shield you from strong winds on the top of the mountain.

Jacket came in my favorite color, a peacock blue. Fits terrific. I just love it!
The jacket is well made. Starting @ the top, the hood is wonderful during this bad weather. The lining keeps me nice & warm, The sleeves are made well & have a knitted cuff inside the sleeve to keep the cold from going up your arms. Multiple zippered pockets are a plus. The only thing I'm not fond of are the strips of velcro along the 2 upper parts of the jacket because they cling to my neck scarves & pull the treads. To remedy this, I just wait till I get to my destination & put the scarf on. The lower strips of velcro are not a problem. I'm very happy with this jacket & it looks nice too!

Blue is really purple
I absolutely love this parka, but I lost a lot of weight and needed a smaller size. There is nothing to say bad about this parka except that the blue is anything but blue. It is really purple, or even periwinkle. I was so disappointed because I wanted exactly what I had before. This color doesn't match any of my accessories which were purchased with my first parka. The pockets are fantastic and the warmth unbeatable. But if you are looking for a blue coat, you will be disappointed. I sadly had to return. I am still without a good winter coat that fits and is blue.

Overall very nice
Ran a bit small for me so I had to order a next size up, which is a tad too big but I can deal with that.
My only complaint is the hood...find it way to big and restricts vision. Would have been great for you to include a photo of the model wearing the hood so we could have a better idea of what it looks like when in use.

Very nice jacket
It has been tough finding a jacket that is warm enough but not too warm, long enough but not too long, with inside and outside pockets, and also light in weight and waterproof. The idea is to be cozy outdoors in cold, wet conditions, but not have to start peeling off and carrying a zillion layers once I get indoors (think about the misery of visiting a stuffy museum or getting on and off heated public transportation in winter). After a long search, I found that the Squall Parka satisfies my requirements. It is well designed and constructed, with many thoughtful touches that others have already commented on. As a bonus, it is also cute - there is something attractive about the way it skims the body.
Although I love and recommend this jacket, I give it four stars because there are some details I would like to see improved:
1) Get rid of the velcro closure strips on the zipper placket. They are annoying and unnecessary.
2) Use magnetic snaps (not traditional snaps, buttons or velcro) to close outer flap pockets.
3) Make the shoulders roomier. Even better, use raglan sleeves, like on the Squall Jacket. That would give more ease of arm movement, and would also be more stylish. Or maybe you could offer a fit for women who need more room at the shoulders than at the hips. Some reviewers said this jacket fit them perfectly, but I had to buy an extra large just for the shoulder room, and while the shoulders are still a little tight, the lower body fit is very loose.
4) I could do without the outside diagonal chest pocket. I would much rather have deep zippered pockets like on a man's parka. Preferably they would be set into the quilting below the waist, not in the fleece above the waist. I prefer not to carry my phone against my chest.
Despite my wish list of improvements, this is actually a functional, attractive jacket with few flaws. I like it so much I bought two - one in black and the other in the lovely purplish scandinavian blue.
