Women's Ponté Pencil Skirt
Odd in the hips
I'm 5'7" (size 4 in most L.E. pants), and I don't have much in the way of curves. That said, I would expect a stretchy skirt to err on the side of being too slim because it can stretch to accommodate the curves. I love the fabric and the style, but the skirt pooched out to the sides in an unflattering way. Instead of returning it, I was able to alter it myself at home. Not everyone has the skills or the equipment to do this. Length was good. Waist was good. It was just those hips causing a problem.

Love the stretch and the look of the material
I love the stretchy material, it's not constricting anywhere. The fabric is soft and looks very professional.

A great skirt if you can alter it slightly
The reviews that say it bunches at the hips are right. I have never tried on or purchased a Lands End skirt that was cut like this one. The hips, just below the waistline are way too wide. The fabric is great; however, and I just took the hips in a bit and the skirt now fits me perfectly. If you have some basic sewing skills or don't mind paying for a minor alteration, this is a lovely skirt.

bunches at the hips
Nice fabric, good length. But the skirt pokes out at the hips. I may try a size smaller but unfortunately I had to return it.

Worst fitting skirt ever
Should have paid attention to reviews. Bulges at the hip do not begin to adequately describe the fit. It was comical. It doesn't bulge, it balloons. Extremely disappointed and have returned.

Weird poofy hips - bad shaping at sides
I'm 5'3" 130lbs, 36-29-37, and I tried this in both the 4P and 6P. Neither worked out, due to the large poofy darts at the top of the hip area. Of the two sizes, the 4P is better, but the fit is still pretty terrible. It's hard to explain, but it's as if they didn't include enough waist darts on this skirt, so there's too much weight/emphasis on the darts that are there. On me, the area across the from of the hips fits fine, but the area just around my hip bones puckers on the sides where the sewing is. Maybe my hips are too boney or something? Both are going back, which is disappointing.

My New Favorite
I absolutely love this skirt. So fashionable, so practical. You can wear it anywhere.

Pencil skirts don't look good on me - except this one!
I've tried on dozens of pencil skirts through the years and I've concluded that because I'm plus-sized and have a sizable pooch, they're just not for me. And I have tried on many ponte knit things from various companies and I hated the heavy double-knit polyester feel of the fabric. But, I saw this skirt and thought I should give it a shot. I live near a Sears so I figured returning it wouldn't be a problem if it didn't work out (this is one of the only reasons I feel good about ordering online). Much to my surprise, this skirt looked good on me. It really did! My husband liked it & colleagues at worked commented on how cute it was on. This is such a great find, for me! I wish that Lands End would offer this skirt in a variety of colors and prints instead of just black. It would also be great in a tiny bit shorter of a hem length, too. Overall though I'm grateful for finding this skirt - it's nearly impossible to find a good plus-sized skirt that's on-trend in fashion. This is a good find.

All in all, useful.
This skirt will wear extremely well, so I am going to keep it. I can see what people are saying about it poking out at the sides a bit, but on me it was very slight and so I didn't feel like it was noticeable. I ordered an 8 petite, and I might have been able to go down to a 6 regular and reduced the poofiness on the sides. I think it ran just a tiny bit big, and that is part of the reason. My measurements are 30 inch waist, 37.5 inch hips and though I am only 5' 2, my legs are just a little longer than normal and I can get away with non-petite bottoms. A size 6 would have been a little short/tight for my conservative-dress workplace so I stuck with the 8p. It'll do!
