Description

A sunny style for grown-ups.

  • Crisp-yet-soft cotton stretch piqué
  • Flattering empire style
  • Pretty tucks soften the scoop neckline
  • Lingerie loops in the shoulders keep straps in line
  • Smooth stretch lining, invisible side zipper
  • Above-knee length
  • Shoulder to hem lengths: Regular, 38″; Petite, 35 1/2″

Nothing says “summer” quite like a sundress. Sadly, while we still love them, many read just a tad young for an adult woman. No such worries here. The fabric is cotton piqué done up in a perky print. And the silhouette is youthful, without crossing the line into “junior-ish.” So try it on – sunshine awaits! 98% cotton/2% spandex. (Lining is 94% polyester/6% spandex.) Machine wash. Imported.

Women's Pattern Pique Empire Dress 4.3 5 12 12
What's up with LE sizing lately? I have been looking at this dress since it first became available. I did not purchase it at first due to the price. Once a good sale came along I went ahead and placed my order. Dress arrived this afternoon. I'll start with the good. Dress is well made. I like the bra strap holders. Built in slip is nice. Not quite sure what is up with the zipper not going all the way to the top of the dress...whatever. Now the bad. The dress is HUGE on me right out of the package! It looks like I am wearing a sack! The arm holes are way too big and the chest area is gigantic which in turn means the entire dress is so large I could have another half of me in it at the same time. What the heck is up with LE sizing lately? It seems like so many of the dresses I go to order are too big (I have been shopping at LE for 25 years). In LE dresses I wear a 2-4 P. I even measured myself beforehand to make sure I had the correct measurements because I wanted this dress to fit properly. What use is the sizing chart if the clothing doesn't follow it? Unless this dress shrinks like a pig, even the size 2 P will be too big. On that note, I saw a comment from another that said her dress shrunk when she washed it. I immediately threw mine in the washing machine (washed on cold as directions state) and dried it on medium instead of low. The dress did shrink. It fits a lot better but it is still too big in the top and no shaping on the bottom. In the LE picture, due to the way the girl is standing, the dress looks very form fitting. Looks like it will show my hour glass figure. Nope....straight as can be. No shaping whatsoever. The colors are not as pretty as the picture (yes, I do know that monitor coloring can be different); the flowers are more reddish orange instead of pink, any yellow is more like a yellow green, and the background is more navy blue then the bright sapphire that I see in the picture (the built in slip is, however, a gorgeous sapphire blue). Alrighty, gave the dress another washing. This time I washed it on warm and dried it on medium. NOW the dress fits more like it should. The straps are no longer too long. I don't have to worry about any free peaks if I bend over. The dress actually has a small figure going on now. Much much better. Now I can go back to washing it as the label instructs. This has been the most difficult review I've ever written. Husband likes the dress and I don't feel like I am wearing a sack any longer. This makes me happy. If the dress did not shrink to my liking, I would definitely have returned it. May 5, 2013
Love the print The fit is right on. Wish the dress had more stretch to it, and that the side zip was all the way, not just in the center of the seam. I'm keeping the dress as it will be very functional for work worn with a shrug, and I LOVE that it has pockets. April 27, 2013
Great Dress The dress was true to size and great quality for the price. Perfect to go from work to dinner. April 15, 2013
I love the fabric and cut on this dress. Unfortunately, I had to return it because the fit was not good for me. I am a size 6. The dress I ordered was a small, which is 6-8, The dress was a bit too big and look matronly on me. Fabric and colors and overall style were what attracted me. Hope someone else has better luck. wonderful dress Excellent quality of fabric, construction, and styling. I love the dress. April 13, 2013
IT SHRINKS!! Having read the reviews I ordered a Petite 10 and it fit perfectly--until I washed it. It shrunk 1 size while I lost 2 pounds. It came out of the dryer beautifully, no ironing required. I re-ordered it in my normal size 12 so it will fit well after it's washed. April 13, 2013
Quite lovely sundress This little dress is really quite nice. The fabric has body to it and is not flimsy. The dress is fully lined which helps it to hang nicely. Top is not cut too low but leaves enough open area for a nice necklace. Overall construction is good with neat little features like clips to snap around your bra straps to hold the dress straps in place. Nice length - falls just below my knees. It does fit a little on the large size with lots of room in the waist area. Great colour - vivid blue with bright spalshes of coral, fuschia, green and cream giving you lots of colour options for a matching sweater. I have looked at a lot of sundresses lately and this one represents excellent value for the money. All in all, a very nice "grown up" sundress. April 13, 2013
It is a bit more muted at first it did not appeal but then after trying my artistic honey gave it a big thumbs up. I reviewed the other comments and agree that the top runs a little large. I ordered a 12 instead of a 14. I am larger on top and narrow hips, so usually I would order a 14. April 13, 2013
So pretty! I'm actually wearing this dress as I type. I love it! I paired it with the grass green supima cotton cardigan and it looks great! I am a full-figured (size 18), 5'8" redhead, with very fair skin. The colors are wonderful. It is bright, cheery, and summery without being over the top obnoxious! I feel like I can wear this to work or even to a summer party. April 10, 2013
Love the fabric Wish I could give this a five-star rating. I love the print. Love the fabric on the outer dress. However, the lining is an acetate-ish, swishy fabric that will not breathe in the humid summers of the south. Do wish it had been made with a cotton lining. It was a little big on top, though it ran true to size on the bottom. The pockets are handy. March 28, 2013
