Lightweight & utilitarian
Great for hot weather workouts, these shorts are lightweight and fit the bill for those everyday change ups. Although I wish they had a key pocket, they make up for this omission in length! The longer length is more age appropriate for me. Good price and well-made.

Finally found good shorts for the gym!
As a middle aged woman carrying a little extra weight around on my hips and thighs, I've had a horrendous time trying to find shorts to wear to the gym. The ones I find are either the very short, low-rise shorts made for teenagers, or they're the form-fitting stretch shorts which look horrendous on me.
These work beautifully for me. They are lined, so are not flimsy, and are the perfect length. The drawstring is imperative for me as well as I have to by them big enough for my hips, but the waist always runs a little big. I would have given them five boats if they'd had a pocket somewhere.
One word of the caution...the white ones look like you're wearing boxers. I won't wear them to the gym, but the other colors are great.

Great athletic short for woman, not teen
This short fit the bill for me because I do not like low rise shorts. After kids, my body is not built for low rise shorts. I find it very hard to find athletic shorts that are not made for tiny teen bodies. These fit well, are comfortable and soft on the inside. The length might be long for some, but I am 5'10 with long legs so it works for me.

Only thing missing are pockets
I bought these to walk in. The only thing wrong (and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that there are no pockets - but I knew that when I purchased them so I really can't complain. But, Lands End, please start offering shorts like these WITH pockets - thanks.

Great shorts!!
Very comfortable, and they don't ride up between the legs. Ended up getting a second pair. Only thing that would make them better is a pocket or two. I got the tanks to match and have gotten compliments on the sets.

Most comfortable shorts I've ever had
These shorts fit me just right. The knit cotton lining is light, soft and very comfortable. The only thing that could make them better would be a pocket - just one small pocket. I definitely recommend them.

I bought three pair.
I love these mesh shorts. They fit the way I would expect and are light and comfortable. I took these on our vacation to Hawaii, they were light and easy to pack, great to wear over a swimsuit or with a shirt alone. If I could change one thing, I wish they had a pocket for my cell phone and car key.

Very nice short
I am 5'6" and 125 lbs with a 28" waist and 37" hip measurements, and I normally wear a size 6 in most brands of clothing. I LOVE these shorts. I like the fact that they hit me at mid thigh and sit about an inch below my waist. They also have a drawstring. They are soft and very comfortable, but no pockets. They don't seem to have shrunk at all in washing warm, drying low. I ordered burgundy, navy, blue, and gray, and I like all the colors. The white racing stripes on the sides don't bother me at all, and my husband even gave me the thumbs up on them.
Two things...first, the size small short (size 6-8) will definitely expand to fit a small-to-medium size 8 person. In addition, a smaller size 6 person may have trouble cinching up the drawstring, since it may get so tight that it bunches. Even with my 28" waist, I have to cinch it quite a bit. Second, I would recommend that Lands' End add a small pocket to these shorts to make them perfect.
