Women's Insulated Squall Parka
The best winter coat
Several years ago, I purchased a Stadium Squall parka and l absolutely adore it. I lost 40 pounds since last winter, so I decided to reward myself with a new Squall Parka (decided I could go with the shorter version since I am now in Tennessee winters instead of Wisconsin and Minnesota winters). The new version has some updates that I love, especially the cuffs inside the sleeve opening. If you are looking for a warm coat that looks good, this is definitely for you! This coat offers great quality for a fair price. It does run rather big - which I understand is for layering, but I still had to exchange the one I purchased for a size smaller. I will have no problem layering under it. I remember having to exchange my stadium squall when I bought that one, too, because it was too big.

Going back to my old parka
Thirteen years ago, I purchased a squall parka. It wa warm, comfortable and easy care. Two years ago, I decided to get a new one so I purchased the 'new' updated squall parka; it's just not the same. Though I ordered the same size that had fit wonderfully, the 'new' parka is tight and I cannot wear it with anything bulkier than a lightweight shirt. This is my second winter trying to make the new parka work for met. I'm giving up. I'm no longer going to donate the old one. Instead, I'll donate the new one and keep the old one for myself.

Very warm winter coat
This is my third squall coat, and this time I ordered the insulated one in red. It's a little bulky for driving in, but great for walking dogs in the snow we get in Western New York. My only complaint is that the neck is too tight to zip the zipper all the way up, unless I then want my mouth covered. I have taken to wearing a muffler at my neck to block the cold. Seems like a slight design glitch.

If it's cold outside wear this coat!
Hands down - this is perhaps the best winter coat I have ever owned. This coat has a fleece-lined hood, shell and pockets - it's like the designers at Land's End had a direct line to Mother Nature! It's roomy, has great length that covers my bum. The only downside is the coat can get too warm...but then again - that really isn't a downside. I'd recommend this coat to anyone.

Shoulders still narrow, hips wide
I have tried to get another squall parka because I absolutely love my old one, now 8+ years old. It still works well, but no longer looks good enough to wear to work, etc. I have been trying to purchase a replacement for the past 3 years from Lands End, but the fit has changed. The hips are wider and the shoulder are very tight and will not accommodate heavy sweaters or multiple layers. I tried again this year with a larger size which turned out to be very big and long. Then I tried a medium size. My hope was the jacket would fit like my old one. Lands End, please upgrade the fit.
If you are pear shaped, this jacket may work better for you. I will be returning mine, hoping next year will bring a better design fit. As mentioned in other reviews, the lower hand pockets are very poorly placed.

Way too small for me - arms very tight
I'll keep this short. The chest and arm size were too small. I have a very old LE parka that I've needed to replace for several years. I picked the same size as my current coat. Cold weather gear is supposed to allow layering. My arms felt squeezed with only a long sleeved shirt on. There is no way a sweater would fit. Women ordering an XL coat, likely need chest room. This one doesn't have it.
And this coat doesn't come in a larger size. Not sure what to try next. Extremely disappointed. The coat would probably work if you weren't planning on layering. But then, I would wonder why you would need such a heavy parka.

Very warm and completely waterproof
I wore this coat today for the first time at a college football game where it rained during most of the day. It kept me very warm and dry. Nice long length and the zipper at the bottom worked very easily to make it easier to sit for longer periods of time. The hood was very ample, almost a little too large, wish there was a way to cinch it or it was a little more fitted, did come down over my eyes a few times. This is a very heavy coat (weight-wise), but very comfortable. The only thing I would change are the pockets (2 deep ones in the front were ok for my hands but the two side pockets that I think are really more for your hands were awkward to use. This coat performed just like I hoped it would in the elements. It would be too hot to wear as a daily coat.

all descriptions were correct
This would be the PERFECT coat if I was living in Alaska or somewhere else in sub-zero temperatures. The coat is heavy (weight), extremely well insulated, good length coverage and sized correctly. It's just that I needed something entirely different. Return was easy at Sears. I tried 2 other coats before I found just what I was searching for.

The coat is a good fit - dimentions of the product really helped
I really like this coat . I took time to review all of the dimensions of the coat and compared it to ones I have at home, which really helped. I decided to purchase the size that the dimension chart indicated for me, but I thought it was a bit big. Then I decided to order the smaller size and see how it fit. I like it better. The coat is good quality, and feels really warm, My husband loved the blackberry color.

I bought the long commuter coat last year, which I love. I was looking to replace my 10 year old short winter coat and thought this item would be a great choice, until I actually wore it. It's the little things that count when making an item a hit or miss. I wore it on our first rainy 45 degree day today and as advertised, it kept me warm, dry and comfortable but.....if you use the skimpy Velcro pieces without also zipping up the coat it won't stay closed. Every time I moved my arms the Velcro came apart. How annoying. Snaps like the ones used on the pocket flaps would have been much more useful and sturdy. The hand warmer pockets are not big enough for an adults hands, which is too bad because the fleece lining is nice and comfortable but a larger pocket is definitely needed.
I won't be keeping this coat. The pockets are too small and the Velcro pieces to cinch it closed without being zipped up is utterly useless. I'll be returning it and will have to find something else. It's a nice fitting, warm and dry coat but the poor, cheap details make it miss.
