Women's Herringbone A-line Skirt
Classic and Well Made
I was pleasantly surprised to find this skirt constructed of heavy material and lined. The waist is reinforced with a wide band. The length is just right for tall boots or flats (or heels), and I don't have any trouble with the pockets sticking out as mentioned in other reviews. I wonder a little about the sizing - I think the waist is a little large for the size, but not enough to return it. (Even though I have an expert seamstress, I'd worry that the proportions would be wrong if I had it altered at the waist.) Overall, a great skirt, and I'm happy to report that paired with a red sweater, it's a magnet for compliments!

The quality of the material and construction of the skirt is excellent, but....the cut and fit of it is Terrible! The pockets are poorly placed and bulge out at the side, even though the rest of the skirt fit big. When you sit the pockets gape open like wings off your hips - super unflattering. Also the view from the side is not great - it sort of has a bell shape or very very wide A line. I really wanted to like this skirt because the material and detailed construction is really high-end, but it really is unwearable. FYI - 5'8" 160, size 12

Skirt with an identity crisis
I loved the pattern of this skirt and the quality of the garment is certainly very high...but will be returning for two tragic reasons: the skirt doesn't know what to be--it's neither a true A-line nor a pencil, but (on me, at least) somewhere in between and thus creates an odd drape; even more, the pockets (yes, it has giant pockets) flare out adding an unattractive bulge to the silhouette right across the hip line right about where I need it least. Other reviewers mentioned this but I loved the pattern so much that I ignored their wisdom. I am a 5'4" hourglass so maybe too hipp-y for this cut although both A-lines and pencils generally work for me. I guess if you tack the pockets closed you could overcome the awkward bulge but I won't go to the trouble, and so sadly, back it goes.

Not great for my shape (petite size 8)
I loved the look of this skirt, and the fabric is beautiful in the purple, but I missed the chance to get it in petite, and the medium in regular fit just doesn't work. I am nifty with the sewing machine, so will change it into a pencil skirt, as the A-line shape isn't working in this heavier fabric & lining. I've started ripping out the seams, though, and I can vouch that is is absolutely quality work! Beautifully lined and the pockets are top notch. Just needs adjusting to suit my hourglass figure.

A wonderful skirt!
I purchased both the green and the rust colored skirts. Years ago I learned the trick to selecting the correct size in a skirt... pick 1 size below one's pant size. The skirt is a cross between an A-Line and a Pencil Skirt, the slimming lines of the pencil with the ease of being able to walk using a long stride that goes with an A-Line! The inner waist band is made very sturdy and of a soft cotton (I think) and the lining is smooth. I usually have problems looking nice in a skirt because I am small on top and wider at the hip but this skirt seems to give me "balance". Oh, the fabric is soft to the touch and not at all picky.

This skirt, in both sizes I tried, ran very wide. The description is a-line but it was not flattering at all.

The green was exactly as pictured. It even worked with a vintage Harris tweed jacket I already had!
The skirt has that sexy-librarian vibe. The wide waistband is a nice fit. The skirt ran true to size and looked good on my 5'3" frame with heels or dressy flats. You can wear things tucked or put a sweater set over top. I am very happy! (I even bought another color for hacking around in boots.)

I love this skirt. Classic looks
I paired this skirt with a tan sweater and long tan boots. Very chic outfit. The skirt is a little short from what the description said I thought it would be longer. But it is still doable. Waist is large but I wear sweater or top with it. That covers the gaps. Zipper doesn't work well. But all in all a very good skirt. I wear to church most often.

I really wanted a green tweed skirt. The fit is too full which exaggerates size. Better if it were A line.

much too large!
I purchased this skirt in a lovely teal color and liked the fabric and style. But it was huge! When ordering pants from Lands' End, a petite 6 fits me fine. Knowing from previous purchases that their skirts do run large, I hedged my bets on the skirt (it was on sale and quite a bargain) and ordered both a petite 2 and petite 4. The petite 2 was huge in the waist and hips. Whoever is in charge of sizing on skirts at LE should take a look at these items and make appropriate adjustments. Sadly, I'm returning both skirts.
