Rated 4 out of 5 by Dory2 Fits like the picture
After reading all the reviews I was not sure if I should order a medium or large. Though I almost always buy medium some reviewers indicated that this ran small. I think the sizing is accurate if you want it to fit like the picture, conforming to your body shape. If you want it looser, size up. As a frame of reference, I am 5?7 140lbs. I bought medium. Have not washed it yet so I can't speak for shrinkage but I will probably not put in the dryer. Yes, the material is thin, but it is supposed to worn as an under garment. The neck is wonderful as it stands up without gapping or flopping over.....a little tight to pull over your head which didn't bother me but may annoy some. Just fix hair and makeup after pulling on turtleneck....not before.

I bought this to wear under dresses and tops for winter, to extend my wardrobe into another season.
Go one size up because it fits closer to the body. Washes great, sleeve length is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarolynP Really great for layering
I bought two, one in black and one in the pale pink colour. The black can be worn alone with a black bra and/or camisole underneath. The lighter colour is a bit too sheer but then it is not really mean to be a stand-alone item. I have a sleeveless black dress with white at the collar and around the arms and as I am 61 I am not really comfortable wearing sleeveless so I just popped either one of these underneath and it works perfectly. The fabric is really light and cool to the touch so you can layer without feeling bulky. I have also worn them under semi-transparent summer tops/tunics and blouses and it creates exactly the right cover and warmth without over heating or being too bulky, thus extending my summer wardrobe into winter. The neck can be scrunched down nicely - I am not a swan LOL so I tend to avoid anything too high-necked and bulky and it also nicely hides my less than youthful wrinkly bits on my neck. I am not quite a crone but getting up there!

I have been looking for a thin turtleneck that was thin to wear under sweaters with a neck that was tight on the neck, but not feel tight. This hugs the neck very nice. I ordered one and liked it so well I ordered another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bargainologist Gr8 product!
I bought these on sale this summer in the clear blue, petite XL (the regular L wasn't available. I wore them on Friday, NY first frigid day so far. i love love LOVE (Charlie Brown voice) them! I wish the color was darker even thought it didn't matter under the yellow long sleeve polo I was wearing. What I like the most was the soft super thin fabric that packed super duper warmth outdoor but was comfortable in my classroom all day. I am happy I was only wearing L/S polo; a thicker sweater may not have allow all day comfort. I will be checking back for a darker color in my size, even though the going up 1 size and getting petite instead of regular wasn't so bad. The sleeves and length was fine but it WAS a bit roomy, not baggy. Gr8 purchase. Glad I stumbled upon these as I'm not a big long John's person. I usually find them bulky and uncomfortable

Rated 2 out of 5 by evieH Thin material alert!
I purchased silk turtlenecks from Land's End last year and they were great. This year ... well, there's no way to wear these without a vest or sweater over them. The material is just one or two steps up from completely transparent. What a disappointment!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Allegria This shirt is a pretty color, but the material is too thin.
This shirt didn't work for me. Partly it was the size. I need a size 4, and it only came in 2-4, so it was too tight. This problem was compounded by the fact that the material is very thin. It seemed more like an undergarment than a shirt. Fortunately I was able to return it for a full refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MWDMom My Land's End Silkies are 32 years old! Time for some new ones, I guess!
I bought my silkies in 1982! and just ordered a few new pairs. These went through 20 years of competitive trail riding in the Rocky Mountains, riding horses & hiking through forests, crossing flooded rivers, doing barn chores and who can remember what else. I sure got my use out of the old ones that I'm still going to wear - who cares if something under clothes have horse medication stains & a very tiny hole in it?

Rated 5 out of 5 by JStevenson Boo! my size and color is out of stock!
This is what I get for ordering late.
I own about twelve of these--I bought most of them maybe fifteen years ago, and they're finally wearing out! These days they're only available in four colors--I only want the black, out of the four--I have old ones in periwinkle blue, burnt orange, red, and light sage, as well as black. So, hello Land's End, please make more of the black? And maybe some more colors?

Rated 5 out of 5 by chrisdmusich LOVE this, but wish you had more!
I adore this very lightweight, but well made cold weather under clothing. After I got mine, I wanted to order everyone on my Christmas list some, but they were all sold out. I later looked again, but they won't be in stock until the day before Christmas. In fact, they may again be sold out. Oh, one other thing was that the ivory shirt is sheer, so cannot be worn alone without a camisole. Other colors may be different.
