Women's Down Commuter Long Coat
Almost kept it, but...
I really liked the smooth outer layer that hides the puffier down sections and the dark wine color was lovely. There was enough room for my middle-aged hips when I zipped in and then I could unzip a bit to sit down in a car. The length was great for walking outside between buildings. I also liked the snap closure, versus hook and loop closures which catch on mittens and scarves. However, I found the chest and arm areas could not accommodate a thicker sweater without causing a loss of flexibility in the torso. I am not particularly buxom, so I was surprised by this problem. I also could not quickly and smoothly stuff a pair of mittens into the pockets, because they got caught by the discontinuity of the fabric in the pass through opening feature. I'm hoping this coat will evolve to lose the pass through pockets and be roomier in the torso and arms. In the meantime, I have returned the coat.

I resisted purchasing a down coat for a couple of reasons--fit and fashion. I am 5'4 1/2" and 140# and in trying on long zip down coats in stores, I would find getting a coat to fit comfortably over my hips would leave me "swimming on top." Not so with this coat--a medium regular (I wanted length for warmth) is a perfect fit, with room for a sweater and easy closing. The hood is an easy on--and stays in place. The inner and outer pockets make it possible not to have to carry a bag. As for style, this does a pretty good job of offering some shape and not total "boxy" quality--better than online photo. I ordered this online via free shipping option and it arrived in 10 days, just in time for this past weekend's frigid temperatures. I have worn it for the past 3 days and have been toasty warm, which included early morning windy dog walks in the park--I am thrilled to know I am set for the winter!

Great coat! Two suggestions - more colour choices and a good-quality faux-fur trim on hood
Great coat. Ordered a Large in the Antique Navy -- lovely colour, not a dark navy, and almost like a violet/blue. Am 5' 5" and a size 12-14. Large fits great with room for layering underneath. Love all the features - snaps on bottom area so no gaps, drawstring inside to cinch up, good variety of pockets, zipper and snaps, good hood. Was hard to find a reasonably priced, warm, non-puffer coat that fell BELOW the knee (not at, above, or ankle length). Have been trying to find a replacement for two years for a coat over 20 years old (not Lands End) and think this will now be the ticket. Coat is warm and cozy in temps of -20 C this weekend (with windchill) north of Toronto. Love it! Only two suggestions I would make here and why I didn't give a 5 -star rating. I'd love to see more colour choices offered and a good quality faux-fur trim on the hood to make it a tad dressier and cozier still.

Nice coat, reasonably warm, annoying zipper.
This coat is warm, but not nearly as warm as Lands End would lead one to believe. Just walked the dogs in low 20's weather, and I was a bit chilly. However, It was on sale and I think a warmer coat would be much more expensive. I am 5'8" and 150lbs. I ordered a size medium; it fits with room to wear layers underneath and is below my knees. The coat is well made and I like the fleece collar and cuff lining. The only major negative is the zipper. It is very difficult to connect and get started. I almost sent the coat back for this reason, but I seem to have gotten the hang of it after a few tries. You could always leave it zipped and step into the coat. I do wish it came in a "fun" color. I bought the blue and it's nice, but nothing special.

Not warm enough
This appeared to be the warmest coat Lands End is offering for women so I bought it because it's very cold here in Michigan in the winter. But it turns out this coat is not nearly as warm as the temperature rating suggests. Just walking around the block in 40 (F) degrees I was cold. There is almost no insulation in the arms. What I really want is a big thick long down coat but it doesn't seem to exist. Since there is nothing better I will keep this but I had to buy a separate fleece jacket to wear under it (and over the sweater I may be wearing) so that I will be warm enough for longer walks outside.

This is probably the best coat I've had in years. Very warm and cozy, storm cuffs that actually fit and the neck comes right over the bottom of my chin. Hood is well insulated too. In Calgary's many nasty winter days, this coat is a keeper.

Love Love Love this coat
I actually ordered mine last year in a nice green color. I lived in Vegas at the time, but knew I would need this since I was moving to Fairbanks, AK! I have worn this coat in -15 and didn't feel a thing. I started wearing it about 2-3 weeks ago and cannot even count the number of compliments I have received. Two women I work with ordered the same coat! This thing is PERFECT for those cold mornings brushing the snow off the truck b/c it keeps you covered and warm. It is heavy enough that you could actually stand to be outside for more than 5 minutes in that weather as well. I highly recommend it.

Great looking, warm, well-designed except for pockets.
I have worn this coat through a whole winter season now making my daily 10 minute walk to and from parking garage to office in the wind, rain, and snow. It has kept me warm and dry. There are many thoughtful design features: access to inside of coat through side pockets; high, snug, fleece lined neck; a quiet, close-fitting hood that doesn't move around your head when walking; a 2-way zipper with snaps; a back kick pleat with a snap closure; adjustable cuffs. The only thing I don't like is the side flap covered, snap pockets; they're too high. They hit at your waist rather than further down where your hands naturally fall. However, the side slash pockets are located appropriately. But things don't glide easily in and out of them because they're fleece-lined.
In terms of sizing, I ordered the small petite, even though I'm usually a solid medium, 8-10 (5' 2" 135#)(again, this is last year's model) and it was the right choice. The coat does not look like a duvet on me, as other reviewers had mentioned. But I think a medium might have. The princess seams are flattering. I wore it today for the first time this season and fell in love with it all over agin.

Hey, did someone turn up the heat or am I having a hot flash?
I am very happy with this coat, with its quality and the price. Having read the reviews, I was worried about having a problem with the zipper, but I got the coat today and I see it is just a standard 2-way zipper. No surprises. I am happy to see that there are inner pockets also. The hood is adjustable and so is the waist. I'm 5' 4" and around 190 lbs, pear-shaped, small in the bust (38B). I got a 1X. It fits well, but there is plenty of room up top for a more bustier woman. The sleeves are the right length. The only thing I would change is that I find the fleece-lined outer pockets are too low to rest my hands comfortably in them. My hands are more comfortable resting in the snap-buttoned outer pockets.
