Women's Classic Squall Jacket
Miss 5"x7" inside left breast pocket
Original squall jacket had an inside Approx. 5"x7"left breast pocket.. I wouldn't have
to carry a purse when I wore it. It quickly became my favorite jacket.
The new squall jacket has a tiny outside left zippered pocket that is practically worthless.

I had this jacket in my basket and then removed it after reading the reviews. I bought myself a Squall Jacket several years ago, it was ridiculously noisy. Even after a number of washings it remains noisy. My husband is wearing it now and complains about the noise as being embarrassing. Let us know when you fix the noise problem!

Love this jacket!
Got it in the blackberry color. Great fit. Comes in petite which works for me. I got it in large and it has ample room, and a great fit. Am using it now in 30 degree weather with just a what else but Lands End turtleneck under it for my daily walks. Plenty warm enough right now without layering yet. Probably the best winter jacket I've ever had. A pleasure to wear.

I love this squall jacket. It fits, is comfortable, and one can wear it any time except in deep freeze. I give it as a gift to many friends & family and they all love it.

this jacket fits perfect and is just what I wanted.
I bought this jacket in the purple color because I usually get black and need a change. Love the color. When I have purchased other coats, I needed to get a larger size to fit comfortably in the bust area. Because of this, the sleeves are always too long. This coat fits perfectly. It is very warm. I purchased the one without the hood. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that yet. The jacket is not fussy and easy to wear. Great coat!

I needed a jacket for the in between weather and when this jacket first arrived I thought it would be perfect - great colour (I chose the yellow) and it seemed to be a great fit. I wore it out for a day and by the end of the day the knitted cuffs and waist were completely stretched. I felt like I was wearing a box. It was completely unflattering.
I have been a customer of L.E. for at least 10 years and was always happy to write great reviews and wear great clothes, but the quality and service have so disappointed lately. I'm tired of having to send things back. Even sizes are so unpredictable these days.
This is my sad farewell, for now, to Lands End. Perhaps in the future, your style, substance and service will return to what used to be a fantastic way to shop.

Squall Style FINALLY BACK (Women's Petite)
I was so happy this Squall style was back in Petites (I HATE the bottom drawstring styles). My last squall jacket frayed so bad I couldn't wear it any more.
I ordered a new squall w/ the bottom ribbing. I received my jacket and while it looks great, it doesn't seem as well made (material?). Also, the jacket is very noisy when I move. So much for my side job as a ninja...
I was hoping to purchase at least two or three more in case this style of Women's Squall (Petite) disappears again. Not sure now.
(In desperation last year, I ordered a normal sized (Small) Women's Squall bottom ribbed jacket through the Business store. However, I really need the petite and the jacket was way too long.)

Not the same
After YEARS of waiting for Lands End to finally reissue the woman's squall jacket, made in the original style, this year they came close.
My biggest complaint is the jacket is NOISY. Every time I move, I sound like rustling paper! The old version did not have this problem.
Yes they brought back the raglan sleeves, the knit cuffs on the sleeve ends and bottom of the jacket. It has the wider sleeves the original had, so it fits over sweaters with ease. The pockets are different. The nice inner pocket on the left is gone totally. There is a newly placed zipper on the inner right, but it runs vertically, just inside the closure zipper. Awkward to reach when you are right handed.
There is also a new small zippered pocket on the upper left outside, which is tiny and so far, unuseful.
The one thing they improved was to offer the woman's in a navy blue instead of screaming electric blue. GOOD idea!
In summary, yes I'd recommend this jacket but add a huge caution that the noise might drive you up a wall. It is SO unnecessary!

Best option for a very short woman--with a very big bust!
I bought this jacket to replace an LL Bean style that is no longer made. The thing I like best about this style is that a size Petite Large really does fit a 42-inch bust, unlike most Lands End coat styles, which are so much tighter in the bust than this one.
I love this jacket's flattering raglan sleeves and the roominess of the torso, and appreciate that the cuffed sleeves are short enough for me (and that's very rare). The fleece lined pockets feel cozy and are not too tiny. This jacket is loose enough to fit over a bulky layer like a corduroy shirt, and is not tight in the belly area, either. One nice feature not mentioned in the product description is that the sleeves have a slick inner lining over the fleece layer, so the jacket is easy to pull on.
That said, if I was designing the perfect Squall jacket, I would change a few things: I'd keep the girth and roomy raglan sleeves of this style, but give it the straight hem, hidden-cuff style and Thinsulate-lined sleeves of the hooded squall design. I'd make the stand-up collar about an inch shorter. (Guess what?! Some of us short people have short necks, too!) I don't care for the exposed knit on the cuffs and the bottom knit elastic (which is not flattering on a squatty body), and I wish the body length was about 2 inches longer overall.
Guys, when one has a big bust, by the time a coat is big enough to fit around, set-in shoulders are WAY too big and look downright comical. That's one good reason to make more coats with raglan sleeves the way this one is. (I notice that your competitor LLB is doing just that this year...)
I tried on six different coat styles in the Sears Lands End shop yesterday, and I can attest that this Classic Squall fits best of all. All the ones with set-in sleeves fit horribly. Please make a nice raglan-sleeved stadium-length down coat for next year!
One last thing: i was happy that I could easily remove the label from the jacket front. (It was just stitched down, not glued, too.) With a chest as big as mine, the last thing I need is to call more attention to it with a label plastered across it!

Love this jacket.
I live in LA but it's just what I needed for my morning and evening dog walks. I ordered a petite/small and it fits perfectly except for being a bit boxy in the hips. I'm tiny so I don't mind but thought I would mention it.
