Boiled wool is exactly as its name sounds. After the wool is knit it literally is exposed to heat and water, and shrunk to become felted. This tighter, denser weave, with its unique look and feel, lends itself well to more tailored styles. So it was an ideal choice for this transitional style. Highly versatile, this jacket can be worn over your outfit as outerwear in milder weather or layered over a shirt or sweater for a day at the office. And although tailored like a fine jacket, the special boiled wool fabric allows a bit more ease for greater comfort, yet retains its shape beautifully.
