Solid FeatherLight? Large Backpack
Not up to Lands' End's Usual Standards
We have often bought Lands' End backpacks and been happy with their durability. My child's last backpack held up for three years. We received the Featherweight pack for my other child, and I was very disappointed. The fabric is thin and unsubstantial. The zipper stuck frequently or caught on the fabric of the pack, and it finally broke and I had to take it to get repaired. Then the zipper pull came off and the inside of the pack started peeling. Before the year was up it was pretty shredded. The other problem is that there is no organizer inside the front pocket -- it's just a big open space, so anything smaller you would want to carry there won't be secure. (This lack of storage is also an issue with the ClassMate backpacks.) And despite many reviewers mentioning these problems in previous years, it looks like the company has not improved it! Not what we usually get with Lands' End products.

This backpack has been great all year for my 5th grade daughter. It fits all of her books, water bottle, 2 light jackets and more! She loves all the compartments and being able to fold a jacket and stuff it in the back zipper area while keeping her school planner and books separate in the front zipper compartment. Great backpack and has held up well all year!

Daughter loves it
Fits my 6th grade daughter's laptop, power cord, large folder, books and other essentials. My picky daughter loves it! Nuff said.

daughter loves color and comfort of this pack but?..
All the pull tabs from the zippers have fallen apart. One side of the looped cording pulled out of the plastic end - it was at least long enough to tie around the slot of the zipper head . We have only had this pack since mid-September and the tabs fell apart in a month! For the cost of this pack, it should've held up - redesign the pull tabs please!

Size large is too small...
This bookbag is well made, and fits well on the child's back. Love the fact you can click on the lunch pail. Monogram was nicely done. Biggest disappointment is the large bag is not large enough. Even with the height information etc, being up North we have bulky winter items, soccer items, and lot's of homework. For the amount of money that I paid for this she will not be able to use it as long as I had hoped.

My daughter loves it!
My daughter picked it out. It is durable and easy to use. The only downfall is that she gets confused by all the pockets.

I have been a Land's End backpack enthusiast for all of the six years since my daughters have been in school, but I have to say I'm disappointed in this product for a couple of reasons. I bought this for my oldest daughter, who just entered middle school. I purchased the large backpack hoping that it would fit all of her stuff and it would serve her for the next several years (at least through middle school). We are only three weeks into school and from day one we have had a difficult time fitting her materials into the bag. Her school requires her to organize her things for her classes in 3-ring binders and, because this backpack is divided up into several different compartments, it fills up fast once you (try) to get a few binders and a book or two in there, nevermind gym clothes and her lunchbox. That's my main complaint, that we are unable to fit everything in with ease. However, I also should mention that several of the zipper-pull cords came off the backpack in the first week of use. I am conflicted about returning the backpack since we went to the trouble and expense of having it monogrammed and embroidered. This is also the most expensive backpack we have ever bought her.

Perfect for my 8 year old niece
Large enough to fit school supplies. My niece loved it, and can't wait to start school with her new Lands' End bag.

WHITE? On a kid's backpack???
It looks gorgeous, but as they said on the Brady Bunch, "Caveat emptor." And how I wish I could recommend it. But, if you have a kid who goes to school where the backpacks are thrown down on blacktop or grass, you can forget about this. Last year I stupidly purchased a backpack with polka dots and a white background...oh what a big mistake. Within a week the sun had bleached it yellowy, and after that it just got dirty. We live where it is hot and sunny and the backpack was brown on the bottom and yellow on the sides, ruined by March but at these prices you can't just go out and get another one.
