Rated 5 out of 5 by Lauras10 Great fit, durable.
We purchased this style backpack last year & it has held up extremely well. There are no holes, the pockets are designed well, and handle has held up. Getting ready to purchase a second one for my daughter for next year. Quality product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Satisifedmom bad handle mechanism
The backpack itself is of the same durable fabric used in LE's other backpacks, but the rolling mechanism makes it heavy (eg. when being carried up/down stairs). The handle no longer fully retracted after just 3 months of use... We've purchased various backpacks (without wheels) in the past, and were impressed by their durability. I expected more out of LE's products, especially since this one is so expensive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by tulus another handle problem
We first got this kind of rolling bag in 2013, used for for few months, the handle could no longer push down. End of 2014 we got another newer design hoping Land's End solved the handle problem, NO..........still not working. My sons have been using for only 2 months and the handle is no longer working as it should be. He has to push down really hard. It is the same problem as the previous bag!

by Grumpier Ok backpack, atrocious handle
I bought this backpack for my son. It has lasted a few months, but the zipper is giving problems, and the handle has completely stopped working. It does not telescope any longer.
Be wary if you intend this for a child who will haul it to and from school everyday!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MAgal Love this bag - easy, durable, functional
We primarily use this bag to transport books to and from the library and for outings. We live in a city, without a car, I was getting overburdened carrying all the books my young sons would check out from the library. Now they each have their own rolling backpack and I only carry the bags up and down stairs to the subway or up onto the bus!!
I love this bag better than our other rolling backpack from another store here's why:
1.) Good water repellancy, stain resistant
2.) Easy to collapse handle and grab top carry handle in one fluid motion - great when preparing to go down to the subway on a crowded street.
3.) Durable, no holes or fraying seen yet - we've had it for 6 months, used 1-4x/week
4.) Roomy - Can hold many books, or two lunch boxes plus some books or toys, TWO bottle holders
5.) Adjustable height handle - good for me and my 5 year old
6.) Quieter wheels - noticeable in our city with many brick sidewalks
With OTHER BRANDS we've dealt with these issues: holes after only hours of use, awkward interior compartment, difficult zippers, loud wheels, awkward handle collapse. The only feature I don't love with this Lands' End backpack is how difficult it is for a kid (age 5) to manage converting the backpack straps. Also note, the bag is a bit big for a 5 year old to wear, but just fine for wheeling!
I'm planning to get another Lands' End rolling backpack for my older son at the beginning of the next school year!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by LisaDA Backpack is ok, handle is very poor
For a backpack that costs this much, you would think the handle would be better quality. Less than two months old and the handle no longer goes down without opening the zipper panel and manually depressing the lock buttons. He can't do it on his own, and his teachers don't have time to help. Very disappointing from what is supposed to be a high quality backpack.

Rated 1 out of 5 by EKJ Straps drag on ground and are unraveling
I would love this backpack--spacious, good size, great colors--except that the straps drag on the ground when it's rolled and they are now unraveling. If the straps completely shred apart, the shoulder straps will disconnect and it will not be able to be carried. I'm going to return it, but now my kid is so attached to it. Also, the shoulder straps can be concealed behind a zipper (cool), but the design on that part of the bag makes the shoulder straps less ergonomic than other non-rolling packs.

My son is rough on backpacks. So far so good with this one. He was excited to have it monogrammed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RedWingsRock Poorly Designed Handle
I invested in this backpack expecting to get many years use out of it. The handle gave way within the first 7 months of school. It is supposed to go up and down with the push of a button, and it did, for the first 7 months. Now it is a pain to get in and out of the car because extra work is required - pushing the side buttons in on the bar that hold the handle in the extended position - to get it to go down.
This year I bought a different brand that does not require any button pushing; it simply goes up and down.
The Landsend bag is very durable but the handle needs improvement. I won't spend this kind of money on another until I see design changes in the handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BoudreauxB Great backpack
My son goes to a University Model school that requires a wheeled back pack. This will be his third school year using it and it has held up great. I like the different compartments. We use the front part to hold his jacket that he keeps with him for days when the building is cold. I'm sure when he gets to middle school we'll have to buy the next size up, but until then we love this bag.
