I ordered this and one from a competitor and this one is much roomier. I only wish it had an optional shoulder strap.

We have purchased this lunchbox for several years in a row because they get so beat up and smelly after daily use for a year. I was very disappointed this year. It seems like the quality has declined significantly and last year's came with Velcro inside and an ice pack that was able to Velcro in on the inside edges. This feature was not available this year and we were truly disappointed.

This is a keeper because; 1) It's light; 2) The zipper zips easily; 3) The liner has no exposed edges where food gets caught, so it truly is easy to clean (yay!); 4) Has a clip that can attach to a backpack; 5) has a handle open enough to hang on a hook or fence; and 6) Has several pockets. But...I have to agree with other reviews: Why make a bottle pocket on the outside that cannot fit a bottle?!

I was excited to buy our first Soft Side Lunch Box, as it looked fantastic with my son's matching backpack. The side pocket for water bottles was useful, loved the clip-on handle, the zippers ran smoothly (unlike many cheaper lunch boxes we looked at), and my son liked having his name embroidered on the front. However, after a few months of use, the inner lining started to tear, allowing food particles to become trapped between the lining and the outer canvas (read: stinky!). Grateful for Land's End's generous return policy, we exchanged it for another. Guess what.... 6 months later, the new one is doing the same thing! Fortunately, LE will refund my money yet again.
This is quite disappointing. Our matching backpack has gone through much more wear and tear, yet after a quick wash, it still looks nearly new! It's too bad the lunchbox isn't of the same quality. Especially at this price point.
This time we'll try the hard sided lunch box. I will miss having the handy water bottle pocket and the flexible sides for awkwardly shaped containers, though.

I'm disappointed. This lunch box lasted only one year for my first grade son. I purchased this to match my son's backpack. I am annoyed that it doesn't stand up by itself, that the food inside gets crushed (I've had 2 ice packs explode as well) and that the handle looks like it's been chewed on by a dog. Additionally, the zipper pull broke and I had to try and mend it. The size is okay but I want a hard sided model now because I need for the food inside to not be crushed and something easier to clean. I would clean this model at least every other day and now after a year, it smells because it's hard to keep clean. I don't think I'd purchase this type again - it's not worth me packing it back up to return or exchange it. I'd be embarrassed anyway - it looks like I've beaten it up for 5 years.

My only complaint is the pocket for the water bottle isn't big enough and should be lower on the bag. The lunch tote can't sit upright without falling over when the water bottle is in it. The kids also have a hard time getting the water bottle in the pocket. I do appreciate the two separate compartments to keep cold and warm things apart.

I was a bit scared off by earlier reviews of this lunchbox, but our dog ate the 2nd store bought lunchbox this year and we had to get something else quick. I chose this to match my son's backpack which it does nicely. We have no problems or complaints so far.

Love the soft-sided lunch boxes from LE. They do a great job of keeping things cold, plus make for easy packing. I can always manage to fit nearly any size container because of the flexibility of this style. Our second-grader has used hers for three years, still going strong. Happily purchased another for my son and he's thrilled to have one for himself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MomofBrood Just the right size
Fits just the right amount - sandwich, full-size water container, snacks, etc. Also has inner net for putting ice pack or to hold napkins and utensils in place. When my boys spill or something leaks, I just rinse out the inside liner with water and then hand-dry. I have not had any trouble with rips or otherwise. Great purchase.
