School Uniform Short Sleeve Oxford Shirt
Great alternative to uniform store shirts
We have worn these for the past year, and I have read all of the reviews posted on this site. Here is what I can tell you about our experience:
1. Fabric is best on the market. Everything else requires lots of ironing and isn't nearly as comfortable. My daughter stains everything and ours are still just as white as when we bought them.
2. They are well-designed to fit a petite/average child. If your daughter is husky, these are not the shirts for you in regular cut. That said, I love the fit because it isn't skin tight (which most decent schools will not allow anyway) but it is slightly more feminine than what you find at a uniform store or boy's shirt.
3. My only wish is that the collars were button-down. I have to sew the collars down each year, but I know that every school has different requirements and Lands' End needs to stick with what works.
4. I do agree that an inch or two longer would be very helpful, but as I order shirts for this year, I really hope I am not disappointed in the "larger, overall" measurements. If a child needs "larger overall", go husky....don't mess it up for the kids who are at an appropriate size for their age.

love the fabric of these shirts
i am a petite adult woman and i love the fabric of these shirts. i add more darting to slim the fit and transform the sleeve to a cap sleeve (slightly tricky) and wear these shirts everywhere, especially for travel. even with the alterations, they are less expensive that other brand no-iron shirts.

Although the shirt is great:
Love the shirt; the way it fits my little one, however after a few washes with Clorox to remove stains and keep them white, they turn yellowish.

O.K. not Great
As with almost all girl's and women's shirts, there is not enough length. I ordered the size 12 for my average size 12 year old, and the width is ample; however, the length is not. When you move up a size in Lands End, you seem to get more of the same. More width and little length. Very frustrating. I'm forced to buy Land's End school uniforms, because of the school logo, and I wish there were alternatives due to cut and sizing. Quality is good, but the cut (even feminine cut) is off.

Purchased several of these for my daughter to wear as school uniform blouses. She hates them because they are tight through the shoulder area and sleeves. I cannot go up a size because they are loose everywhere else. One size up might fit better through the sleeves, but it would be too large and look sloppy. She is not broad shouldered and does not have this problem with her other blouses.

not feminine enough; "looks like the boys shirts"
for a girl's oxford, it's not very feminine. while the fabric is what you would certainly expect from LE, the design of the blouse is not what my 12 year old cared to wear to school. her words, "it looks too much like what the boys wear". and if anyone else out there has a pre-teen, well, you know i'm not winning this battle...even though I do not care for the thinner, cheaper fabric from the local "catholic school store". please consider a more feminine design, darts to make it fitted, and non-buttoning collar (too much 'like the boys'). blouse with pointed collar is fine; differentiates between the junior high girl uniform and the Peter Pan collar the younger girls must wear. no 'puffy' shoulder tops on the sleeves either. i think that about covers a lot of her comments! thanks.
i would recommend this to anyone who's daughter's not as selective in the design. it's still well constructed. gave it a 3 strictly based on the design.

Not Tailored for a Girl
This shirt lacks darts in the chest area to fit a woman's figure. My high school aged daughter had to buy two sizes bigger than she normally wears just to have the buttons stay buttoned across her chest, yet the back gaped with extra material. Please make a woman's shirt to fit a woman's body! The old version of this shirt, with darts in front and back fit her perfectly, was true to size, and looked so feminine. Please LE don't give in to the culture trend that neutralizes the genders. Bring back the feminine fit!

fits like a BOY!
My daughter is 10 years old and very tall and thin. This blouse is truly awful on her. It is huge and boxy, but if we order smaller, it will be too short. It looks nearly identical to her twin brother's shirt. I will have to label them to tell them apart in the wash. It is very uncomfortable as it is at least 6 inches too big around in the body, and the sleeves are at least 3 inches too large in diameter and much too long for a girl's blouse. It is no longer a feminine blouse at all. If Lands End wants to make this blouse for girls, they should at least provide a slim fit option for girls who must have the length of the larger sizes. But, I hope they will go back to the previous style. It is much more flattering and feminine for a young girl who is starting to grow up. She feels ridiculous in this boy styled blouse, but she is required to wear it for chapel every week.

Boxy fit--should be more tailored for a girl
The shirt fits very wide and slightly short.
