School Uniform Plain Front Iron Knee® Blend Chino Pants
I like these pants. I bought them, because they are the best material and cut for his school. I didn't like material that shrinks in the wash/dry. I wanted something durable for school yet fit the dress code. I did have an issue with one pair (khaki) on the knee being torn after several weeks. BUT my son has 3 pairs of the shorts and 3 pairs of these particular material. I still recommend. AND Land's End stands by their items; they did on this one. Overall, best pair of pants out there.

I have a first grade boy and have been buying these pants for 2 years now. The knees and color of the pant hold up very well after multiple washes, and I will continue to buy them!

Solid Built, Sized Small
Lands' End always makes a good quality product, but the sizing is small. We have been buying other brands in a 36/32 with no problems, but these are tight in the waist and the hips.

Nice looking, but not as durable as we hoped
These pants fit my slim 1st grader very well, and look good. But after 3 months, he has shredded through the knees on all three pair I bought. The bottom patch is intact, but the top layer of material is completely worn through. The color has also faded completely from the knees. I'm not sure if he is just unusually hard on them, but I'm disappointed that I need to replace all his uniform pants before Christmas. I'm going to try a different brand and see if I have better luck.

Good quality, questionable sizing
The quality of these pants is very good. As usual, my one complaint is with the sizing. My son has size 5 regular, 5 slim, and 6 slim. The regulars are too big in the waist for him (I have to cinch the waistband in so tight that they look silly and bunchy) and too short in the legs. The 5 slims are too small all around, but he's wearing them anyway. The 6 slims seem no bigger in the waist than the 5 slims. The length is better (which seems a little absurd considering all his other, non-dress LE pants fit perfectly in 5 slim), but as other reviewers have mentioned, the ankle opening is a bit narrow. They don't sit very nicely over his shoes. He doesn't seem to care about that, though; it's just me that has to nitpick. We're sticking with the 6 slims because he'd drown in the regulars, but he's a skinny kid and still has absolutely no growing room in the waist. What a waste of an adjustable waistband! Overall, though, I do recommend these. Despite the sizing flaws and the minor ankle opening annoyance, they really are very good quality and well worth the price.

Great Fit, Excellent Quality
My grandson wears a uniform to school 5 days a week. Lands End uniform pants fit him great, and are high quality, standing up to many washing. My only complaint about these pants (I'm hoping they can fix this for next year) are the ankle is very tapered. My grandson loves the Lands End "dress' boots but this year sadly he can not wear them with his uniform pants. The ankle opening is too small making it extremely difficult for him to get them over the boot. I'm hoping that next year Lands End will adjust the ankle opening and maybe fingers crossed offer a boot cut version of the uniform pant.

These pants definitely hold up to my boys wearing them to school. I have four boys (K5, 3rd, 5th, & 6th)who have to wear these to school and the pants hold up really well. They are very high quality and durable enough to pass them down to the next child when someone grows out of them. I have only had an issue with the navy pants fading once and a pair of khaki start to wear out, but Land's End took them back with no question. It was the easiest return/exchange I have ever made! This company is amazing!

Uniform pants sizing challenge
Sizing has been challenging of late - the shorts fit my older son much differently than do the pants, and the online sizing chart really doesn't ring true. It would be helpful with the long pants to have info on the "standard" length that they ship to the store as guide when thinking about what to order each fall, when I generally have no long pants that fit to compare to. We don't live near a Sears store so I usually order online but this year I botched the sizing and had to make the long drive to resolve the fit issues. The Iron Knee feature is definitely better than the older version but my boys still manage to do some significant damage to their pants.

Did Land's End change the material in these pants? I haven't ordered them in over a year and the material was the first thing I noticed, in a good way. My boys have always liked these pants and this year is no different. We will see how this years' batch hols up; in the past we have had issues with wear and/or holes in the "iron knees", but with my boys I have yet to find a pant that is indestructible, including "work pant"-quality pants meant for grown men on construction sites! I always come back to LE because they replace the worn pants with no problem, which makes the (slightly) more expensive price well worth it.
