Rated 5 out of 5 by MaggieMR Good Uniform Short
This short fits my son well. I like that they have adjustable waist so that he can wear for an extended wear. Color is nice. Does eventually fade but still holds up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BBN Runs Small but Quality & Durability is Classic Lands End
My son typically wears a size 8 in pants & shorts. Even in the Lands End School Uniform Chino Blend Flat Front Pants he wears an 8. However in the these shorts he needed a size 10. Other than that they are what you expect from Lands End a quality product that stands up to a boys repeated wear and tear. Love the adjustable tabs and LOVE the blended chino material . . . just take them out of the dryer and they don't need anything. They look neat. Not like 100% cotton shorts that looks like you slept in them unless you want to iron. They also hold their color better as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by SLM86 too short in legs, too wide on waist, poor quality
My son is 4 but wears a size 5 shorts in almost all brands. When we received these, there were a few problems.
1) they come out wrinkled from the dryer no matter what I do. I don't want to iron my son's uniform shorts constantly!
2) they're a bit big in the waist and too short on his legs. He is a tall 4 year old, but size 5 shorts always fit properly in all other brands. (for example, carters boys 5 fit him just right)
3) The metal tab which has sharp edges came off of the only pair out of 5 that he wore, the first time he wore them. I found the piece completely off of the shorts in the washer.
On a positive note, Land's End has wonderful customer service and happily allowed a free return since they didn't work out for us. So, never be afraid to try them out and see if they work better for you!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Dd24 Sizing is not great
I give a 5 for quality but the sizing is terrible. My son wears a size 4. If you order a size 4, it is really a 4-5 and they were took big and baggy on him. I ordered the 3t and that is truly a toddler fit. I ended up having to return everything and order from a competitor. Disappointed!

This was my first time ordering from Lands End. I am satisfied with the overall quality and fit of these shorts. I was afraid they would either be too big or too small, but they fit true to size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ArchwayMom Sizing wonky, but they hold up
I'll be the first to admit the sizing is wonky on these. Based on my son's measurements, he should have been an 8, but he was swimming in them! We did get the size worked out (tip: order several in a bunch of different sizes/fits, order more of the ones that work, and send the rest back -- or take them to Sears for a return). These shorts lasted MUCH longer than anything else I've ever bought and my kids have been wearing uniforms for years. In fact, I'll be recycling my older son's shorts to my younger son, they still look that good! No holes, no fading, no wear...and I have boys that PLAY. My only regret is not getting the same in pants last year. Won't make that mistake this year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MiMalone Runs small
These shorts were picked to be part of our school's dress code. I think the material is thick and too hot for schools in the South that start back the 1st of August!!! Based on the size chart, these shorts run very small. I went up two sizes according to my sons weight. He weighs 75 pounds and the size 12 regular is extremely tight in the waist!! Wish they would make the Lands End boat shorts with an elastic waist one of our choices for the school dress code. They are sooooo much cooler and comfortable.

A terrific pair of shorts for my son. He is hard on his clothes and these shorts stand up to the challenge and look great too!

I have bought Lands End uniform shorts for over ten(10) years and never had a problem until now. I bought three(3) of the tan and two(2) of the blue. The tan are up to Lands End standards. The blue are not. I ordered the size 18 and our grandson couldn't even tuck an undershirt and shirt into the shorts. They were beyond way too tight and very poor quality. I couldn't believe how different the tan and blue shorts were. I always buy from Lands End because of quality. I am now very wary of buying the blue and that is the color he likes. How can the tan be perfect and the blue so imperfect?
