School Uniform Box Pleat Skirt (Above The Knee)
US(16) sized for 13-14 Year olds
Purchased for uniform. Easy wash & wear. If removed promptly from dryer - no iron needed. Adult S skirt is 18 inches, 2 inches longer than Girls - too long for her school. Skirt fitted for slim hips. Note on label: US(16) 13-14 YEARS. This is true for my 14 yr old. Sizing true for polos too. For polos after washing Adult size US S is exactly the same as Girls XL/US (16).

Bought size according to guidelines - too big requires ironing
Ran much larger than guideline suggests and requires ironing which is NOT what I want from a uniform skirt. Wish they made a side 3 pleate skort the way other uniform companies do.

All of the Lands End Uniform skort options STINK! They are ill-fitting and too long for most girls.

Once you find the right size in this skirt it is great. My daughter is 15 1/2, 5'5" and around 125-130 pounds and she wears a girls size 14. She could probably wear a size 12, but I ordered a 14 to have some growing room. So the skirts definitely run big and I would ignore the size charts. For comparison I ordered her some uniform skirts from a local school uniform store and we got a 31" waist. The Land's End size chart says a girls size 14 is a 28" waist and it is still a tish big on my daughter.
Please note Land's End has 2 versions of the "above the knee" skirt. One of them is 16" in length #size 14# and one is 18" in length. My daughter prefers the 16" skirt. We accidently ordered the one that is 18" in length and had to exchange it. You can open the "PDF dimensions" file to make sure you are ordering the correct one.
A lot of the reviews state this skirt is too short. If your school has strict length requirements it might be too short for your needs, but we LOVE the 16" length. It is fingertip length on my daughter which is what her school requires.
Love that is now comes in Khaki too!

Wish we had an alternative choice.
Fit could be improved. Pleats are anything but crisp and skirt does not fall well when being worn. Fabric is poor. Prefer to buy skirts at used uniform sale where quality is better.

This skirt is to short.
Quality is good but length to short.

Live this skirt
This is by far my daughters favorite skirt for school. It is the perfect length and it's great quality. It is a pain to iron with all the pleats, but requires ironing to look crisp. I wish I could get this in khaki as well.

I'm disappointed with these skirts! My daughters school just switched over to lands end as their uniform supplier, which at first I was excited about because I've used lands end for my younger boys uniforms and I've always been happy. The main thing is that these skirts need to be ironed if you want them to look decent. The skirts she had last year with another uniform supplier didn't have this problem. Even if I get the skirt immediately from the dryer, it's still wrinkled. It is such a pain!!! If you are a busy mom who doesn't have time to iron out a skirt every time it's washed, then try to find a similar looking skirt somewhere else.. It really bothers me because if I don't have the time (which I don't!!) then she looks shabby at school and I don't like that. LANDS END- IF YOU ARE LISTENING, PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I don't know much about clothes and material, but I have had my kids in catholic schools long enough where I have bought a lot of pleated skirts that don't wrinkle, so there must be a solution. I'm very unhappy with these skirts and this is the only negative thing I've ever said or written about lands end. PLEASE FIX IT!!! On the other hand, the shirts they are required to get are nice. My only complaint (and it's a BIG complaint) are these skirts!! I'm a fan if lands end but if I have to go another 3 years with these skirts, I'm going to go crazy. If anyone knows where I can get the same kind of skirt somewhere else, please let me know.. Thank you!!

this is at the knee, not above the knee, at least if you order your usual size. they do sit at the natural waist, i probably could have ordered a size down but it's not such a difference that it's worth exchanging. good quality material.

Women's sizing runs LARGE
According to the size chart, we measured daughter's waist and ordered an 8. (29-30" waist and 39" hip). The skirt practically fell off her. We sized down 2 whole sizes to a 4 because that's how big it was. This was only a 2" difference from the 8 and the skirt is still to big around the waist. She can fit her arm in there. As for the length, my kid is 5'4" and to us the skirt seems long. I think that's just a matter of personal preference though. These are for private school and I think the length is more than appropriate. We like the skirt overall, they just need to work on the sizing. We are keeping the skirt as school starts in 2 weeks and I think she can live with it. I may attempt to take it in myself.
