Reversible Pet Vest
OK as a top layer
This jacket is cute, but very lightweight. I will layer it over sweater to keep my little dog warm. But it wouldn't work alone. Also, the Velcro on the inside would be too rough right next to her skin. I'm happy with it for the sale price, but it is not a warm winter jacket on its own.

I have shopped Lands End for 20 years or more,. I have 2 Weimaraners and a German Shorthaired-Pointer, all rescued. All short haired dogs with a tendency to get cold. We do have some chilly mornings here in Henderson, we also have a home in Utah. I purchased at least 10 of these jackets mostly in down and then with the polyfill when down were no longer available. Love them, The polyfill ones are warm enough for them because they are still waterproof, even though I prefer the down. On January 22 ,at 6AM I went to the dog park. It was still dark. Someone shut one of the two gates and did not put the latch down, I did not notice this until it was too late, all three got out. The GSP was hit by a school bus. She survived, lost teeth, had a bruised rib and a broken leg. One was found on the freeway and the other at another dog park. I know,I should have them come on command. They usually do unless they are all together, when they are like a pack. The guilt is haunting. The point is when the GSP got hit she was thrown, and the down jacket took the brunt of the road. She had no road rash, cuts or scratches, the vet said the jacket saved her injuries from being much worse. The jacket did not fare to bad either,a few stitches here and there and it is as good as new. She is recuperating and the park department has since locked that gate so no one will ever go through what I did.It was an experience I never wish to relive, or anyone else for that matter! As far as the jacket with the polyfill it works on cool mornings or rainy mornings to keep them dry. Love Land's End. Penny and our family thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

I bought two of these for each of my dogs. I have a lab mix(70lbs) and it fits great!! Very generous with the length and fullness!!! XL
I wasn't concerned about my smaller dog because I purchased a rain jacket last year and it fit great. I ordered the same size in this product and I am completely satisfied with the fit!!!
Well worth the regular price!!!

Doesn't hold up
I bought one of these last winter and will be returning it. The holes where the Velcro straps go through are not reinforced, so with repeated wear, the thread has come loose and the stuffing is coming out. It would have been very easy to incorporate a stronger hole opening; not sure why they didn't, as the Velcro is very rough and the fabric/thread is very easily torn. Very disappointed.

This dog vest/coat is awesome. It covers the dog's chest and has adjustable Velcro straps that also connect to each other. We have a large Dalmatian/Labrador mix and the extra large is perfect and covers just enough of his back end. The only problems we found were that the catalog said it was down and so did my packing slip. It is poly-fill. It also said machine wash but the tag on the vest/coat states to hand wash in cold water. Other than those questions, we LOVE it! :)

Cheap cheap cheap!!!!!!
YA know i used rave about Lands End products .. But they decided to go the route of making there products on the cheap and not just dog coats .. I didn't mind paying a few extra dollars for good quality.. But everything i buy from them now is low quality .. This reversible pet vest isn't really a good coat for winter
Its a darn wind breaker for Fall . And cheaply made to boot.. But i guess thats what you get when its
made in Vietnam.. Thank Goodness i got it on sale for $21.00 dollars .. Because it sure isn't worth $42.00
not even the $21.00 .. So beware buyers .. In my opinion not worth it..

dog loves it
I have a greyhound and wasn't sure which size to buy. I decided on the XL. With the straps, you have the decision to bring it through the loops and down or up and fasten to each other on the back to make it a custom fit. The coat is light weight and she doesn't mind wearing it. I recommended that my sister buy one for her grey as well.

Sizes are skewed
The small is closer to an extra -small and the medium is for like a med large. My 10.5 yr old small dog with long legs and long body takes a small or medium in most coats except for the the more extravagant, faux- leather bomber or motorcycle jackets in which he takes a Large (with that company the size chart allows for 6 different size levels). Anyway, as for a protective winter jacket - it's very thin and lightweight. It is not reversible if it's monogrammed, unless my dog has changed his name to GGOD POONS. Returning both Sm and M. Very disappointed.

Great idea but the vest is too narrow and doesn't come down far enough on my Miniature Schnauzer's sides. Sits like a saddle on his back. Thus, not very warm in really cold weather and I have to try and fit it over a shirt.
A Down garment uses "Down" not polyfill. I don't object to polyfill but do object to it's being called Down.

No longer has real down insulation
I bought this dog coat last year when it had 100% down insulation, which gave my 10 pound toy spaniel a lot of warmth without weight. Size small fit her last year (barely) but she gained a couple of pounds, so I ordered a medium this year (2013). I didn't notice in the current product description that the newer version has "100% poly fill" instead of down. The newer coat is noticeably thinner than the old one. Since the reason I bought this coat was for the down insulation, I'm returning this more cheaply-made version. Very disappointing!
