Rated 4 out of 5 by AGPIPIA Great Backpack but too small for our needs.
We originally ordered this for my 4th grader based on the "what will fit" video and size, but a 3" 3 ring binder and a lunch box pretty much took up all the room allowed in this backpack. And forget the fall jacket. I know you can attach the lunchbox to the outside, but apparently that is not "what the kids do" So, we will keep this for taking on trips, but I did order another backpack from Lands End, and it was on sale so that was great, in LARGE. Holds a 3" - 3 ring binder, a lunch box and a coat very well, with room to spare. Son likes the colors and says it feels good. I like the size and and hopefully it will hold up to the 4th grade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WinterReadyMom Came just as it looked online
I was in denial about school starting and thought I'd missed the boat to order a customized embroidered backpack but luckily it came earlier than the estimated ship date and was just as I'd hoped it would be. My son just started first grade this year and the backpack is both sturdy and roomy enough for him to grow into. It will easily fit his lunch in addition to the massive amount of cold weather gear we send back and forth once winter hits. He also likes the water bottle holders. I like that it has a divider in the main pouch which means papers can be separated from other things and potentially stay dry.

by MizzouMama Great laptop proctection
My son will be transporting a laptop to and from school this year so it was important I found a bag with additional protection. This bag has a built in padded sleeve for a laptop. This is a plus as we?ve found placing a laptop and a spiral notebook in the same compartment will end with the laptop getting scratched up. The straps are padded which is a plus as I expect the bag will be heavier than normal with a laptop included. My son is 3?2? and about 45 lbs. This bag is the perfect size for him. (I compared it to the large one purchased for my daughter). I ordered the bag with an embroidered icon as well as my son?s initials. The initials were placed so low that they there were half covered up by an outside pocket. I contacted customer service and was issued a replacement quickly with no hassle. The construction is comparable to other bags in the same price range. The school year has not started, so I cannot comment of the durability.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BilliardMama will make it through the school year but that's it
My first grader is particular when it comes to prints and doesn't like licensed characters or sports. We bought this to replace his smaller garnet hill backpack. He LOVED the colors, print and style. The size and weight was perfect for his petite frame. It holds a three ring binder, spiral notebook, library books and the matching soft sided lunch bag with ease. The front pouch is perfect for tall insulated thermos. The thermos fits in the side pouch, but the stainless steel is heavy and makes the bag uneven. In the front, it is easy access and fits perfectly. Great features, but we ended up disappointed. The way the clips and elastic are situated, make the bag difficult to zip up and down. One zipper ended up breaking the first week of school. We've made it halfway through the year and I think as long as the one zipper remains functional it will make it through the rest of the year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hottmama Good Quality, comfortable for a kid to carry on their back
My son likes this backpack it looks very comfortable on him. Pretty sturdy. Only thing I don't like is the net pockets on the sides, I have had problems with those before, I'm hoping they hold up and don't rip...

Rated 2 out of 5 by Marie0307 Less than 2 weeks of use & zipper has already broken
The backpack looks great & I was really happy when I got it for my grandson who is starting to move out of the diaper bag. It's just the right size for a few pull-ups, an emergency change of clothes & a couple of toys. I thought it might last until he goes to pre-school. But, since the zipper pull has already broken from just occasional use by my adult daughter, there is little hope for it lasting like the backpacks I usually get from L.L.Bean. My older grandson has been using his L.L.Bean backpack everyday for school for 3 years & counting. I'm really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicolaf Great backpack!
My son still has the first backpack I bought him 2 years ago which has lasted through grades 3 and 4 and summer camps! It is still fine but he wanted a new design for grade 5 so I have purchased another one. They are very sturdy and built tough which is what we need.

Rated 1 out of 5 by KendraRamsey Too small
I bought the Classmate Medium Backpack three years ago and it was the perfect size and it lasted two whole years of little boy roughness. I purchased this one for the current year and it's too small for a trapper keeper in it! Once we get the trapper keeper in it there's no room for library books or anything else. Not impressed with the "lightness" of it either, it feels the same as the old one that was cheaper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sunshine02 Great weight with dual compartments for seperating. My son loves the exta clips to attach his lunch bag and/or secure pack around his chest.
Great lightweight yet durable.
