Great bag! Not so great water bottle pocket.
My daughter used this pack through Kindergarten and Grade 1. It could easily make it another year or two. The size was great - small enough for her petite frame but roomy enough for her lunch, a sweater, snowpants when needed, and even her swim bag on swimming days. The chest strap is an excellent feature which enabled her to carry it by herself even when fully packed. My only complaint about this bag is the mesh side pockets for water bottles. Both sides wore holes in them within the first semester of kindergarten rendering them useless. I cobbled together a pretty significant "patch" on one side that allowed us to limp through the next year and a half with the water bottle carried where it really needs to be - accessible on the outside while keeping the inside contents dry from spills. Even though the pack could get through another year, my daughter is ready for a new colour and the frayed mesh has become a source of frustration. In spite of looking elsewhere first, we are somewhat begrudgingly back here ready to buy another LE bag with the same mesh pocket. The bags are that good. But I fear I will be honing my mesh repair skills before the leaves fall.

I ordered this for my daughter who is starting junior kindergarten in the fall. It is easy for her to open and it will fit everything she needs without being bulky or heavy at all. We both love the pattern! She has only used it around the house so I can't comment on long term quality, but it looks very well made and I hope it will last a long time!

Just the right size for my 8 year old granddaughter. She loved the print.

Got this for my new kindergartener. It's cute and a perfect size. Not too big for my kindergartener but will still hold a folder and a notebook.

You can't kill it!
Though I just purchased this backpack and it hasn't been used yet, it is the same backpack my granddaughters have had for 3 years. My oldest used hers for 2 years in school and it still could go through a couple of more,,,she just needs the next size up now. And since the design has improved with the little cross-chest strap, I bought one for the youngest also who starts kindergarten this year.. The fact that the book bag slid off little shoulders was our only complaint about the older model. The pack is roomy, durable and waterproof. No matter how hard it was yanked, the zipper never gave out either. No tears in the fabric, a very slight fading because despite being told to only spot wipe, I put them in the machine. As I said, these packs are worth every penny because you cannot kill them.

Perfect fit for Kindergarten
We ordered this backpack for our kindergartner. She loves it and mommy does too! It has room for the things she needs and is not too big for her.

Great Backpack! Highly recommend!
I bought this backpack (small midnight navy stars) for my daughter, who is starting kindergarten in the fall. It fits her perfectly. The design is very pretty. Judging from our prior experience with my older child's backpacks from Lands' End, this backpack should last her for 2 years. It is very well made and durable. I highly recommend Lands' End's backpacks!

Great pack and features. Awful water bottle holders
I would have loved to give this backpack 5-stars. We bought one two years ago for our petite kindergartener. It was a big big when she first used it, but now she is 46 inches tall and has grown into it better. She has used it for two years now and through two summer camp seasons and it is still doing great with the exception of the water bottle mesh holders (on both the backpack and the lunch bag). They completely ripped from the bottom rim of the bottle within a month. Disappointing enough to make me want to use a different company now that my younger one needs a backpack. But in the end, the size (which will take them probably until 3rd grade because they are a smidge larger than other junior packs) along with the chest strap for when they are really smaller kids won out. It is large enough to fit school folders, a couple of library books and her matching lunch bag. In a pinch, we can push her towel and swimsuit into it on swim days. I would LOVE to see the outside mesh pockets turn into a stronger fabric.

Bought this for a little one. Fit was perfect! The bag is light but durable?
