Plain Front Iron KneeŽ Stain & Wrinkle Resistant Chino Pants
Knees wore through in 2 months
I bought 4 pairs in early January for my 9 year old son to wear as school uniform pants. When they arrived, they seemed like very nice quality pants, and fit him well. However, by mid-mid-March (only 2 months later) all of them had worn through in at least one knee. Each pair got worn once a week and washed once a week.
I figured that each wearing cost about $4 a day, assuming my costs for hemming and washing are thrown in for free. A good deal?

Good quality. I would have added a couple more belt loops. Other than that they look really nice.

Great school pants.
My son is very thin and tall and I cannot find anything that fits him. These pants look absolutely fantastic on him. They fit him perfectly because I was able to get the exact waist and length he needed. Thank you so much for having the variable length. He does not have to wear high water pants any longer.

Although they are somewhat thinner than they used to be (several years ago), these are still the best pants around! Granted, the thinner material means, that they wear out faster than they used to, but still the best quality around! The thing I love the best, is the fact that you can specify the length (in-seam)! It's so smart! A child's height is just as important as his weight for pants! Some kids are skinnier but taller, or some kids will stay the same size, but will grow in height. These pants, and the in-seam measurements, make buying pants a pleasure!

Hole in the knee after 3 months
My children have been wearing "generic" or second-hand school uniforms for the past 7 years. This year their school started requiring Land's End uniforms. I am very disappointed with the quality of these pants. Most of the boys in my son's class have had to return the pants due to torn knees. Today after only 3 months my son came home with a rip in the knee of his pants. I find it interesting that 7 years of "generic" and second-hand uniforms my children never came home with ripped clothes until we had to purchase Land's End.

looks great, but would have fit my 11 year old when he was nine....
My 11 year old is average in size and weight....50th percentile. We have tons of LE cadet pants, jeans and cords. We recently ordered these pants in a 12 since it seems the LE sizing always is a bit on the short side for sleeves and pantlegs. The 12 came as expected, but under the tag's US 12 symbol was written 10-11 years, The legs are 24 1/2 inches long which is about three inches short. Because we have literally 15 pairs of Land's End pants (some size 11 which are getting short) I didn't think to keep the receipt. My bad. We've never had this sizing weird 3 year gap in any product anywhere.....My son was wearing LE 10-11 when he was 9. I need to order school uniform pants but not taking my chances with this again. Perhaps instead of sizing according to the total height of the child you could offer the inseam length. Luckily we ordered two pairs of the dress pants which are on super sale...like $5!! and I was able to order them to length!

Excellent uniform pants
My son is VERY hard on his pants. The pants we bought at the uniform shop got holes and rips in the knees very easily. We bought these pants instead and I am amazed at how well they have held up with no tears! My son says they are very comfortable and they are virtually wrinkle-free coming out of the dryer. Highly recommend!

Best pants for husky size
Very nice pants that fit my son perfectly. I had bought a pair last year and had to go up one size this year for 5th grade graduation and the cruise we're going on. They wash very well.

Weak Knees - Rips/Fades at Knees
I am so dismayed about this product. Since August, I have purchased/returned almost 8 pairs of these trousers in NAVY for my son's school uniform. My son, who is 11, attends a school that does NOT have any play apparatus and is a pretty typical private school. However, he comes home with ripped fabric OVER the Iron Knee patch after wearing this for a few days, during which the knee area has faded considerably. Also, the trousers that we had purchased earlier had rips under and over the Iron patch only after wearing into the second week, and that was TWO TIMES since he had worn shorts all days except for the mandatory Friday trouser day in the Fall. It seems that the fabric used for these trousers are very weak. I have experience with the khaki trousers not becoming as faded, but the NAVY trousers just FADE and RIP. Poor quality. I have lost my faith in this selection of trousers for school uniforms. This quality would more likely be found at the local Wal-Mart and not Lands End store. I think I would rather purchase the more expensive scratchy version from Dennis Uniforms, which seems more durable.
