Pet Squall Jacket
I LOVE this coat for my two dogs! A friend gave this coat to my dogs, even though I was anti-coat. It has been GREAT! It doesn't look like "clothes" (which I like), and the fleece lining keeps my older lab mix, who started getting cold in the winter as she got older, warm! My younger Chesapeake doesn't really need it for warmth, but I put it on her anyway when it's raining or snowing, b/c it's nice not to have wet dogs coming back in the house. I've had the coats on them in downpours and have NEVER had them get wet through in these coats. They stay in place really well, even when running, playing, rolling around in the mud/snow, at the dog park. I've had them for several years now, and they're holding up quite well!! I especially like the reflective trim and reflective strip on the back for walking in the evenings in the winter after work when it gets dark earlier in the day. With a black dog and dark brown dog that are hard to see in the dark, the reflective strips help them (and thus me) to be seen by cars. The coats are very easy to take on/off and adjust, and I haven't had the issue of the Velcro losing its grip as I have had with Velcro closures on horse blankets in the past. Both my dogs like their coats, but my older dog REALLY LOVES hers! She doesn't want it taken off when she comes inside :) The only recommendation I would have would be leg straps, like on a horse blanket, but I haven't had it actually come off, just a little sliding to the side on the back, on my narrower-bodied lab mix. Leg straps, as on a horse blanket would fix this, but some dogs might not like those, and the blankets do stay put really well.

Picky pups love it!
My wire-haired fox terriers are picky about "clothes". I only would even consider putting something on them if I felt the weather called for it, and this was perfect. They aren't difficult to put on with the nifty velcro straps and stayed on well for trips to potty outside in snowmagedon. Our elderly dog was much more comfortable outside in snow and rain with this on as well, no more shivering and pain!

Durable and Comfortable
I bought the first of this coat about 2 1/2 years ago for my large dog (she's a total mutt-I have no idea what she actually is) who has a very fine coat. She was always cold, and hated going outside in the winter/rainy months. So this jacket was a welcome purchase! I especially liked the fact that there was an opening on the back for harnesses! Up to that point I was having to get creative with connecting her leash and harness under a coat. She really likes it as well. It isn't constricting but stays in place when playing outside. It is great as a rain coat as well. In fact, she likes it so much that she whines when I take it off of her when we go inside, so I ended up ordering her the fleece jacket to wear inside (also love that as well). My only suggestion/observation is that I wouldn't order this jacket if it is REALLY cold, as there in no cover for the belly. However, if you're buying a coat a dog that genuinely needs added insulation, they probably aren't all that keen on staying outside for long periods of time anyway. I have since ordered two more jackets for our other two dogs who don't necessarily need it, but it keeps rain/snow from finding its way in my house, plus they look like a cute little Lands End posse on walks. The reflective fabric on parts of the coat are helpful as well during night outings. I had them all monogrammed with their names, and even the thread is somewhat reflective (the first one I purchased was, not so much for the other two). They are super-durable and have weathered well. I've read some reviews that had a sizing problem, but I feel that they are true to size. I ordered a large, medium and small for each respective pup and they all fit perfectly. I will probably replace the first one next winter, but you have to admit that getting three years of hard use out of a coat at this price point is great. Great product. Check out the fleece jacket for staying warm inside.

This is called a squall, so I expected it to be warmer. It is only a water-resistant shell over a thin fleece layer, not the 300 thermacheck fleece that Landsend put into their "people" squall. There is no padding in-between the layers. I will use it in Spring and Autumn, but I will use another thick coat on my dog in Winter. It would be a good rain jacket if the outer layer was waterproof. The fit is good, and I like that the collar stands up for extra protection.

Good Coat but Too Short
I bought this coat two years ago for my 13 lb Westie. It's still in great shape even being used every day for nearly 6 months out of the year. It's the perfect weight; warm enough that she no longer comes inside shaking after walks in the winter but not too heavy to use during rain in the fall and spring. My only complaint is the sizing. The ratio of length to the straps is not the same for every dog. The small fits around her perfectly but it's a good 4-6 inches from the base of her tail and that's a good chunk of her back that gets wet if it's raining or snowing. All dogs are not the same shape, there really should be an option to get it longer or shorter as the case may be.

So Glad I Bought This Coat
My little rat terrier LOVES her squall jacket. She has very thin fur and a petite build, and she is easily chilled. It keeps her warm and dry both indoors and outdoors. The only suggestion I would make is to make the velcro strips longer for dogs built long and thin like her. My dog has the coloring of the dog in the picture, and I bought the rusty orange jacket because it was on sale. Looks great on her and she's thrilled with it!

Keeps my little girl warm in this -10 degree winter
OK, start with the gender confusion that comes from naming a little girl dog "Scooter," a typically boy dog name. Couple that with an owner whose favorite color is blue, and you end up with neighbors, groomers, and vet clinic staff who just assume she's a he.
Enter the coldest winter in 30 years!
I found the HOT PINK Pet Squall Jacket at the Lands' End store in my neighborhood. The M fits my 17-pound rescue baby perfectly. It keeps her warm on those evenings when it's -10 F and the wind is blowing at 15 mph.
She's outside wearing her hot pink Pet Squall Jacket and I'm wearing my Yellow Squall Jacket. We are a cozy pair, thanks to our Lands' End insulators! And no one thinks she's a boy anymore. The doggie boots are a whole other story (thankfully NOT from Lands' End...)

Love this dog Squall Jacket
I have bought several jackets for my little Puginese, never finding one that truly fit her and kept her warm and dry until now!! After measuring her, I ordered a medium, it fits perfectly! She seems to really like it. One thing I did to make it easier to feed the ring on her harness through the jacket, was to tie a ribbon on that ring and feed it through the jacket. When I go to clip her leash onto her harness I pull on the string and it is easily accessible. The pink jacket in contrast to her black coat is quite striking. She certainly stands out! I've donated all her old, ill-fitting jackets to the Humane Society in town. Thank you for providing such a great product.

Donating some to the local animal shelter
I was ordering a down vest for myself, and I came across these great dog coats at such a great deal, I ordered several for our local animal shelter. The dogs are in outside kennels during the day and in the winter time (especially this winter!) the staff at the shelter keeps the doggies warm and cozy with coats. I know that these are greatly needed. I challenge other Land's End customers to buy a few and donate them to your local shelter! Not only will it make a doggie warm and cozy, but it will make your heart feel warm.

Thin, poor quality, very disappointing
Land's End please listen to complaints from previous reviewers. The quality of this squall jacket is a mere shadow of the jackets from a few years ago. Thin fleece, cheap nylon, so light weight the back of the jacket flips over by the slightest bit of wind or shake from dog. How disappointing. The price remained the same but the quality is far below par. Please bring back quality of previous squall jackets that had the grey fleece. Also make a size XXL and have an additional strap so the back of the jacket stays put and does not flip over.
Land's End please listen to your customers and improve the quality of this product.
