Pendleton Wool Blanket
High quality, perfect weight for cold nights
I rarely submit reviews but rely on them for my own purchases and it's time for me to chime in on the great reviews for this blanket. I'm at the age where I can't have heavy bedding or I will get too hot, but I'm wary of scratchy wool. This blanket is not too heavy and while it has the wool texture you'd expect, it is not hard or scratchy. I do use a flat sheet under the blanket. This keeps me warm when sleeping with the windows open, yet not hot. I will be able to layer a light down comforter on top when winter hits. I use the blanket as a bedcover and unlike a previous reviewer I do not find it wrinkled, and the loop sewn edges are a nice finish. I ordered the full/queen for my queen bed, which has a thick mattress topper, and it has great overhang on sides and foot with my bedskirt. I would not order a size up if you wanted to use as a bedcover. I did purchase this on sale but would have been happy if I paid full price. It will be on the bed for years.

Great value for a heirloom blanket made in USA.
I purchased this blanket last year for a king size bed and found it to be perfect in every way. It washes beautifully without shrinking and is light weight but warm. The polyester blanket we previously used was uncomfortably warm at times and shredded at the top after two years of use. This blanket is made in the USA and will not become a throw away item in a few years. I recently purchased another Pendleton blanket from Lands End as a Christmas gift that I will be proud to give.

Breathes better, but shrinks
I tried this blanket because another reviewer had noted they were too warm beneath a fleece blanket. I was also sweating beneath fleece, and I'm happy to report that this solved the problem. Wool though it is, it breathes better than our fleece blanket and makes us much more comfortable while still keeping us warm. It did feel stiff and scratchy, so I machine washed and dried it according to the tag's instructions which said it could be machine washed and either line dried or machine dried on low.
And it shrank. A lot. I lost 4 inches off the length, another 2 inches off the width. It was washed on gentle/cold and dried on an extra delicate setting aimed at flimsy knits which didn't even dry it completely. We have a 13 inch pillowtop mattress, smaller than many, but there is no longer anything to tuck in on the sides and only a couple of inches at the foot. We love the blanket, but I don't have space to air dry something this large (assuming it was the dryer, not the washer which shrank it--I don't know that for sure), so we traded up to the king size and cancelled plans to give these as gifts. Five stars for the blanket, one star for the washing instructions which might make it unusable.

Ok, I will honest when I first pulled this out of the package I was dissapointed by how scratchy it was. After washing it, it was a lot softer. I believe with each wash it will continue to soften up. Then I put it on my bed and got the best night sleep ever. I never got too hot or too cold, it kept me at the perfect body tempature. This blanket is fabulous!!

Outstanding quality, price, & color
A three-season blanket for me, whether I use it as a layer or just by itself. The "Emerald Blue Heather" is gorgeous, with slightly more green in it than blue - just the way I had hoped. And as far as Pendleton's quality goes... fantastic. A true "no-brainer" purchase, especially if you must have your bedding all-natural & breathable. :)

Cozy, comfy without a lot of weight.
Much softer after washing. Minimal shedding, no pilling.

beautiful blanket - well worth the money
bought this blanket for the winter - monogrammed lovely - color as described and seen on website - husband big fan of pendelton blankets throughout his life and we ordered this new one to coordinate with bedroom redcoration - have removed for the spring and had dry cleaned before putting away for season - i know it says it can be washed but did not want pilling that sometimes occurs when laundering - feels soft and warm during the winter - another good product for years of use. I guess it could be viewed as pricey for a blanket but they are beautiful products - well made - in the USA I might add. - worth the investment

I purchased this blanket a month ago and purposely waited to review it until now. We LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It is so warm without making us too hot in bed. We use it along with our LE 6 ounce Flannel sheets and it is heaven! It is generously sized (king). It was rough to the touch when I opened it and that alarmed me. Washing it solved that. I am going to get another for my queen bed when they go on sale.

This is the perfect mid-weight wool blanket. It's not as soft as a synthetic blanket, but is a nice-textured wool blanket... And it's made in the U.S.!

I purchased the color Basil and it is a lovely green. The quality is good and the workmanship is also nice. However, I sadly returned it because this is a lightweight blanket and what I'm looking for is a winter-weight blanket with heft, and this one does not have it. I do not know if all the other colors of this line are also lightweight but since I live in the northeast where our winters are usually cold, a lightweight wool blanket would not be sufficient even for layering with a quilt.
