Men's Squall Parka
Loose fit, wind comes in
In my opinion the parka has a very loose cut, it seems like you wear a paper bag. The drawstring waistband in the middle is almost worthless, since it doesn't change the outside shape of the parka. At least there should be a second drawstring waistband in the bottom of the parka. Because of the wide cut, wind comes in.
If you are looking for a fashionable product, don`t choose this parka! I have an older Squall Jacket and I am totally satisfied with it...

Who ruined my favorite coat?
I have been wearing Lands' End's squall parkas for about 30 years now. I'd guess I've had 5 or 6 of them. I liked them all until now. This latest one has these weird things sticking out of the sleeves, which I hate. I guess my favorite coat is ruined forever.

I live in upstate NY, I tried the parka the next day after I received it, it was a blustery day with wind gusts up to 35mph and temp in mid 30's. On numerous occasions during my walk outside in this weather, the wind blew the hood off of my head, and when it stayed on, it was useless. The lack of a drawstring hood really hurts parka and needs to be added.
Also, the hand warmer pockets with zipper are nice but not nearly deep enough, I had to form a fist in order to keep my hands in the pocket so they would stay warm.
The drawstring waistband is worthless, its a nice feature but it is not located at the waist, it is closer to the stomach and uncomfortable to use.
It has a large pouch located on the inside of the jacket but I would not recommend using it for valuables like a cellphone for fear it would fall out, it needs a inside pocket..
However, the fit was excellent and I did like the idea of a parka.
I will occasionally check the lands end site to see if they ever correct these features on the jacket, but for now, this jacket failed to meet my requirements and I returned it on the second day after I received it.

mislabeled or inaccurate online garment dimensions
I needed a seasonal-shift (winter to spring, fall to winter) coat which would be lighter weight than my old Lands? End Micro-loft parka and my other-manufacturer down jacket and thought this would do the trick. I checked the actual garment dimensions given at the site before I ordered, but when the garment arrived, I found that it was tight across the chest. On measuring the jacket I found that the chest measured 54? rather than the advertised 57? for an XL size. Either the coat was mislabeled or the measurements given online are inaccurate. The other measurements seemed accurate. Also the coat was much heavier and stiffer than I had anticipated or wanted and the hand-warmer pockets were placed too high and were too small.
For me it would be a winter parka, but I already have a 15 to 20 year old Lands? End parka with Micro-loft insulation which is well made, generally warm, and perfectly functional yet (even though I have never liked the color).
The color (cobalt blue) was good and I liked other features (except for stiffness and problems with the hand-warmer pockets) but given the poor fit, weight, and stiffness, I will be returning this item.

great color and great fit
As if it was custom fitted. Not surprised by the typical Lands End quality. Always better than expected. I got the red (company color) and get comments all the time. I got it for work, but wear it everywhere.

warm without being too heavy
A great coat. The zipper is poor though. It sticks. The shoulders in this medium is too small for me, but the large size is too large.

warm winter coat
This coat is warm and very attractive. The only negative is that the hood does not fit snug enough to prevent wind and cold exposure. Good for everything but very cold windy weather. I thought my husband should have returned it because of the hood, but he likes it.

Not as good as in the past
I've bought so far a down coat, 2 Squall Jackets, and 3 Squall parkas. Unfortunately this model is by far worst quality. While adding zippers to handwarmer pockets add security, taking away 2 of 3 inside pockets removes a great deal of functionality. Only leaving a teeny slot pocket, barely big enough for a cell phone, with thin zipper is a big drop in quality. The hood only attach to around the head, notthing in front of the face.
I read somewhere else that being bought by Sears really took a toll on their quality. Hope Sears divests LE soon.

My son loves, loves, loves this jacket!
Wind-proof, water-repellent, roomy and lots of pockets. Wonderful warmth for sub-tropical weather.
