Men's PrimaLoft Packable Insulated Jacket
Could have been great if the sleeves weren't so poorly designed.
This could have been a great item, but the jacket really restricts arm motion, especially upward arm motion. It is very tight in the shoulders and chest when you raise your arms, and when you do so, the rest of the jacket rides up. It's really quite odd, and judging by some of the other reviews, I'm not the only one who has noticed. I find it rather troublesome that they would let these ship this way. It's not the Lands' End of years past, unfortunately. Anyway, I wanted a nice, lightweight Primaloft piece that I could wear under a semi-dressy wool coat on sub-35 degree days. This item will work well for that purpose, and I'm keeping it because of that, but I won't be wearing it when I plan on being at all "active." I would return it, but I simply haven't yet found a better alternative for a decent price.
On the plus size, the material is very nice -- unlike the material used on some of the cheap down coats LE has put out lately -- and the jacket looks quite good.
I actually accidentally ordered a medium rather than a large at first, and when I tried it on without realizing the mistake, it fit well everywhere but in the shoulders. I then realized my mistake, and I assumed that getting the correct large size would fix the problem with the sleeves. It didn't. Moreover, I actually preferred the fit of the rest of the jacket in medium, which is VERY strange for me. Maybe this is because I wanted the jacket to be a layering piece from the start, but still... very strange. In any case, it runs large for a layering piece, EXCEPT for the upper sleeves/shoulders, which are way too tight when you move your arms, but, oddly, not that tight when you're standing still. Quality control really missed this one.
Regarding the warmth rating, I agree that Lands' End is overly optimistic. The jacket is very warm for its weight, but it is VERY lightweight.

Warmth claim of 0° to +20° F highly questionable, arms are poorly fitted, overall excellent.
I put reality at or about 35° F. The 0° is hard to believe. That said, it is just as warm as the LE Squall (which also makes ambitious warmth claims). There you have it. Amazingly thin. Amazingly warm. My experience, movement is restricted in arms. Jacket also rides up when lifting arms. Perhaps it's a matter of how much it will bother you, I found the issues minor. Poorly fitted garment but price to value and unbelievable compactness more then redeem it.. Feedback system is from 1995? Too many steps. Note how few reviews in general on LE. Thank you Lands' End.

Great choice for a teenaged boy!
I bought this for my son who refuses to wear a coat and won't use his locker at school. This is the perfect solution. Now he has a lightweight, but warm jacket in a pouch that is always in his backpack for those inclement weather days. When he's done wearing it, he just pops it back in his backpack for the school day.

Jacket fits well but I can not lift up my arms
I buy all my jackets from Lands so I am disappointed to have to return this one. The jacket fits me well but I can not lift up arms up to chest level height without it grabbing in back and tightening up around my chest. When i compared this jacket with a light down jacket from Lands End purchased two years (same size L - tall), the cut appeared to be the same, so I can not explain the difference in fit. I have no problems moving my arms to chest level height with the older light down jacket. With the new jacket, now boxed up for return, I would not be able to take a photo. I have never had to return a jacket before....

Bought this for my son who walks to the metro and commutes on the subway every day. The jacket is thin enough to not feel encumbered when jostling among other commuters and can easily be folded into his backpack. He hasn't tried it in really cold weather yet, but the jacket is thin enough to layer under his other larger jacket if we endure yet another polar vortex this year.

Not a good fit.
Jacket is cut much tighter in the shoulders than the jackets from other companies, so I am returning it.

The cut of this jacket is not good the back and arms were both to tight, in the medium that I received.
The jacket that I received was poorly tailored the back was to narrow and the arms were tight. If it had fit properly the jacket would have been good.

I have last seasons model. Style is great, fit, I own both med and lg with different jackets with LE but went with a lg on this one. It holds up very well, I would like to have seen fleece around the inner collar and in the pockets. I've owned the squall, last years model and had to send it back. Sorely disappointed because it's a great looking jacket! How is it that this jackets beats the cold better than the squall? Maybe combine the inners of primaloft technology with the design outer of the squall then you can get away using a 100 fleece instead of the 200. I'm a believer of primaloft, it will keep you very warm, I sometimes combine it with my 200 fleece and a T-shirt at 0 temp F and I'm good to go (I can move around freely). I can't forget the drawstring which can prevent the wind from blowing in under your waste, big help! I'd like to see more of your coats made with it. I have another Jacket that is discontinued that is thicker, it has button pockets, primaloft built and I can wear with a T-shirt, I'd like to see that one come back as this one's collar is looking a bit used.
