Men's Over-the-calf Wool Rib Dress Socks (2-pack)
I have been purchasing these dress socks for years and years. The quality has varied, I assume depending on who LE gets to manufacture them. In the past sometimes I've had horrible problems with shrinking but the current batch seems to be of high quality. I treat them right--launder in a mesh bag and then hang to dry so they don't get stretched out.

I've been wearing Lands End wool dress socks for 20 yrs. The latest version are marginal at best. The old merino fabric was much nicer.
They fit well. Quality is ok. The new fabric is not as nice as the old merino wool.

Great Wool Socks
Land's End over the calf wool socks are an excellent choice for comfort and great quality. The fit is amazing and the wool keeps your feet dry. I used the socks with my boots all the time. It does not matter whether the temperature is cold or warm - the wool will keep your feet in great shape. Great product!

Not what they could be, but
I've bought over-the-calf wool dress socks from Lands End for many years. In recent years, the quality (durability, fit, comfort, stretchiness, softness, any other adjective you might apply) has been all over the map from purchase to purchase. Two or three years ago, I bought some of the best ever. December 2013's version--not so much. Harsher feel. Not as resilient. Still nicely constructed. No durability issues--so far. I'm not sure what's up with the supply chain, you'll probably get a good sock, maybe even a great one.

Medium Size is Too Large
My husband prefers over-the-calf socks and wears a size 9 shoe. Finding socks that fit is very difficult, so I was happy to see Lands End offer these in a medium size. However, the socks were so big that the heel rested between the back of his ankle and the back of his heel intead of cupping the heel. I had to return them.

Guys, tell your boot-wearing gals about these socks!
I LOVE these socks! In fact, I Love all the Land's End socks I've ever bought, particularly for their smooth-seamed, no-bunching toe areas. As a woman who doesn't wear many shoes which would accommodate thick/heavy socks, I find these perfect in cooler/cold weather for fitting comfortably in my tighter shoes & calf-height boots. Like lotsa ladies, I tend toward cold toes in the chillier months, but they stay toasty in these. It's always been difficult to find women's wool knee-socks, so I usually wind up searching men's departments for them. I swear by wool's moisture-wicking & warmth-keeping power! And I really like how these always stay snugly up. I also wear them around the house with my slippers (wool fleece-lined, of course!:-) -- As for their wearing out too fast, as other reviewers state, I've been buying them for the last 2-3 years & have not yet found that to be the case, but may start hand-washing them now to help their lastability. The pricing is good enough for me to keep them around, particularly when they're on sale. I just bought a pack of dark brown ones reduced to $6.00 & also found some lovely lighter colors on great sales at the end of last season. I can see them being one of my main Land's End go-tos for quite some time!

Once you go over the calf...there's no going back
If you've worn OTC socks - you can stop reading now. These socks are great. They're basically wool blend soccer socks that never fall down when you're wearing them. I love these socks and they're a terrific value for what you get. I've had no durability issues at all. I would add you should probably not wear them around the house but in your shoes. I'd have a feeling wearing them around the house would put more wear on them.

Durability Concerns Destroy Any Value
I bought these socks in this color, and also in blue. I couldn't believe how fast they wore out. I've had them for less than 8 months, and I've already had to throw away all of the blue socks, and one of the gray pairs. The price is good, but not for socks which last less than a year.

Quality has deterioated a lot! Unless the next delivery is OK, this will be my last order.
I've been buying the wool over-the-calf dress socks for about 20 years, and together with the polos are the main reason I've shopped at Lands' End. I have been very disappointed with the quality of the socks for the past year or two, and will give them one more chance. My last few purchases have been very disappointing - toe stiching not holding up, holes forming on the bottom after a few washes.
