Men's Long Sleeve Viyella Shirt
Great Fall, Winter, and Early Spring Shirt
I've always wanted a warmer, heavier-weight sport shirt and I've seen Viyella shirts locally at The Bay but could not justify the expense. Plus, the feeling of wool directly against my skin was not particularly appealing as I'm a bit sensitive that way. Then I saw the Holyrood Tartan Viyella at Lands' End and thought, since it had been reduced in price and there was an additional percentage discount incentive, I would give it a try. And I am very glad that I did! The shirt has a very soft hand and is exactly as pictured on the website, the colours rich, the material robust and the weave nice and tight. A couple of niggles: I would have preferred a tailored fit and I cannot do up the top button comfortably. Neither of these is a deal breaker though as I bought the shirt for casual wear and would not do up the top button anyway. I also sized down (to a L) to compensate for the lack of tailored fit. For reference, I am 6'0", 212 lbs, 46R, 36" waist, athletic build. Yes, the shoulders are a bit tight and the material excessive around the midsection but no more than, say, Tip Top or Moore's. Very pleased with this purchase and I hope Lands' End continues to make quality merchandise like this in the future.

Yeah, Black Stewart Tartan is Back!!!!
I have always loved the Scottish Tartan choices that Lands End once used to offer in at least 8 different tartans back in the 90's. Although I can't take credit, I did contact customer service last year to request Black Stewart Viyella as a tartan option. Mine from 1994 had finally wore out. Yes, that's how long that original shirt lasted. As long as you don't resort to harsh washing techniques and store away from possible moths, this shirt did not shrink, or fade in color.
I've recently lost weight so I no longer needed my old XL size. I'm 6 feet tall, weigh a slender 175 lbs and the medium fits me like a glove. If you like a little bit more room for broader shoulders and athletic build, I would recommend ordering one size up. Lightweight yet still keeps me warm in a 52 degree day. Hopefully LE will offer more tartans like Antique Buchanan for next year. Plus I love the button down collar option, which is not what I had on the other shirt. I do still have my original Black Watch tartan Lands End Viyella shirt from '94. Enjoy this great long lasting comfortable shirt.

The material is fine, but the color and pattern are not so great
The shirt fits very well and the material is smooth and comfortable, but there's something not quite right about the color and pattern. I wear the shirt, but it's not among my favorites

My 2nd Viyella shirt from Lands End and wish I had a dozen more
I recently purchased this year's blue-green Viyella shirt from Lands End, having purchased the last one in 2007, perhaps the last year that it was offered on sale in the catalog. This the most comfortable shirting material known to man/womankind, it will wear forever and despite its cost, inexpensive to launder or care for. Viyella was originally offered in this country by the late, great Hathaway Shirts of Maine, it being a British import in the 1950s, and composed of 60% wool and 40% cotton back then. The modern mix and weight is far more suitable for today and, to the best of my knowledge, Lands End is the only catalog merchant to offer it. As a Filson devotee, even they don't carry as comfortable a fabric for everyday wear.

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Shirt
My husband received one of these shirts for Christmas from my parents, years (and one size smaller) ago. bought him a new one last year, and another (in the red and green plaid) this year. Great fit and fabric, and we know they last forever (unless one's size changes). He was thrilled to receive both shirts.

sleeves too long, otherwise excellent
Viyella shirts are great and will last for years with cold-water, hand washing. They don't fade. My only complaint is that the sleeves are always too long. The large size works out to around a 36 inch sleeve, maybe more. I would still buy the shirt, though.

I bought this shirt as a gift for my husband.
He wears it regularly and says it is very warm and comfortable.
It's very difficult to find anything made from Viyella locally so I was pleasantly surprised to find a shirt made from this wonderful fabric. Wish there was an equivalent made for women.

Perfect gift for 50 year old son.....
Not sure if it would fit..but read it ran big..the XL was perfect for a husky guy. Wearing it un tucked so he
would still be cool..the look was very good. I think LE gives us all a chance with things going on sale
to give an expensive gift, with good styling and a great fit. Thank you.

My husband loves the Viyella shirt! It replaces the last one (the 5th or 6th) from lands end.
It's a lovely, warm shirt that fits perfectly.

This shirt is a high quality fabric with a cotton/merino wool blend.
A beautiful shirt. The colors are vibrant but not too bright. The fabric feels like a baby soft cotton. Maintains it's shape with a smooth unwrinkled look. This shirt gives the wearer a distinguised look with fine quality. I highly recommend it.
