Girls' Waterproof Squall Parka
This jacket is perfect for the winter months in the Northeast.
I bought 3 of these coats for my triplet granddaughters. They each were able to get their favorite color and are very happy with the coat. The fit is just right. The jacket is made of a very sturdy material. The girls love the sleeve-cuffs and the EZ zip tabs. The coat is an all-around winner with the girls.

Love this jacket!
I love this jacket! It fits great--plenty of room for bulky warm clothes underneath bit not too big. I always buy the parka length to ensure at least 2 years' wear (which is easy to do with the grow along sleeves). The color (pink) is vibrant and my 5 yr old daughter absolutely loves it. It has great features--the thumb holes in the cuffs is great for keeping mittens on; Velcro on the back of the hood is perfect for making sure little ones can still see while wearing it up; and the draw string inside helps make it a more girly fit while keeping drafts out. I only buy Lands End jackets for my kids because the quality and design is exceptional. All of our jackets get passed down to friends and so I have seen these jackets get 4+ years of wear and they still look great. Can't recommend highly enough!

Great winter coat!
We got last year's version late last season and it was perfect to use in this recent early cold spell. We also used it earlier this year (Jan) to go tubing in the snow and it was great--kept her warm and dry. The coat is lined with a toasty fleece and is warm/windproof but not too heavy or bulky. My daughter at first was freaked out by the thumbhole in the fleece but now loves it. It seems to be sized a little big--we got the M for little girls and it was too big when my daughter turned 5, but now fits her pretty well at 5.75 years old (she is about average or a little bit smaller). I also like that the hood has a little elastic in the trim so it keeps the hood on but is not constricting.

I bought one of these for each of my 4 kids. They all stay warm and dry in the snow. Cute colors and great details....the wrist guard is a key feature for comfort in the snow.

Everything I hoped it would be
Waterproof and warm, beautiful color, great fit, and fabulous thumb-holed sleeve cuffs. Our daughter loves this coat and I feel like it was money well-spent.

Small in the shoulder\armpit
My daughter has done nothing but complain about this coat this year. It is roomy around but very tight in the armpit area, even without bulky clothes on. You can't beat LE quality or return policy, but we are going to have to try another style.

I bought this in the 16+. Plenty of room for bulkier clothing if needed. My daughter is on the heavier side and the plus size is a perfect fit.

My first-ever Land's End return
I searched all of my favorite retailers for my daughter's winter coat and settled on Lands End because I am a long-time customer who's always been completely satisfied. We love her snow bibs, snow gloves, dresses and more. My daughter is slim (age 8, 42 lbs, 48' tall, 18" sleeve) but growing fast, and size small in other LE items have worked perfectly -- so I ordered the size small. Sadly, though I adore the concept of the thumb-hole cuffs, unless your child's arms are exactly the right length for the size you order, they become a huge hindrance -- hard to roll up, hard to pull down over gloves (not using the thumb hole), simply in the way. The cut is boxy as well and my daughter reported that she was not warm on our first 20 degree day. The fabric and color were Land's End quality -- fantastic. But the fit was just too roomy/bulky, warmth not up to par, and features just not quite right. Since we live in a mountain town with lots of snow play, we will be returning this. I don't see another great option within my price range at Land's End, so am looking elsewhere for this item. Sorry Land's End -- I'll be back for other items!

Good coat but the arms are sooooo long.
The coat is very nice and very high quality. The only complaint we have is the fit. It is short waisted and the arms are ridiculously long. She had a coat like this last year. As she grew, the coat became too tight, even though she is very slim, but the sleeves were still too long.

Bells and whistles removed
Yes, it's true, LE removed the awesome extra features that once made this a "5-boat" coat. Gone is the fabulous and handy mesh interior pocket, that kept my kids' hats and gloves safe. Gone are the helpful and safety-minded reflective strips and piping, that once, when we had them, I thought "hey, I'm glad those are there." And the snap on the exterior pocket has been replaced by Velcro, the Destroyer of All Things Knit. So, there is no way I could give this coat a 5, when the features have been reduced. I can only hope that the warmth quality of past years' models has not been compromised in 2014, because we will need all the warmth we can get to withstand another brutal winter. Everything else looks great. I wish they made a larger girls size (18-20) or prettier Womens colors, so my middle-school daughter could get another year out of this coat; she has always loved its warmth and the thumb hole feature on the wrist cuff and insisted on one more of these coats, but next year will be a different tale. The sapphire blue is more of a periwinkle shade.
