Girls' Squall® 3-in-1 Waterproof Parka
Nice Jacket with infuriating sleeves!
I wish I had heeded the warning of other purchasers on this jacket. The quality and styling is great, but the sleeve design makes it the most difficult-to-put-on child's coat I have ever encountered. Separately, the pieces are fine, but together, my 2nd grader is completely frustrated by it. The sleeves are so narrow that it is nearly impossible to get it on with a school uniform sweater. Even without, it is a struggle. I'm seriously considering ditching this jacket and buying a different one for next year even though we've only used it one month (bought it for the next season early in the end of the year discount).. What a disappointment.

Great separately, don't really work together
We've been weating this coat since October. As other reviewers have stated, the fleece is warm, and the outer shell is very waterproof. We're in the middle of one of our snowiest winters in PA, and this coat has been put to the test! We usually LOVE Land's End products and buy a LOT from LE, especially outerwear. But this coat is disappointing. My 3 year old is always complaining about putting it on. For snow play, we've resorted to really layering her tops, (sometimes including the fleece- but we don't zip it in) and just putting the waterproof shell on top. For school, I'm just thankful she's only outside for the short walk from the car to the doors! Wearing a sweater under the coat when it's all put together is challenging. She can NOT take the coat off by herself when it's all together. The fleece sleeves stick terribly, and the velcro connectors pull off with even the slightest tug. Once the snow melts (if ever??) and she's outside again at school, we'll have to come up with a new solution. I normally love LE coats, and was so looking forward to the 3-in-1 feature, but this is just not working. I'd return it, but for what I paid, it's not a bad deal for a rain coat and a nice quality fleece. Might need to find a better winter coat.

The sleeves are a problem.
The coat is good quality. I'm a loyal LE customer. However, the sleeves of the fleece are oddly long and hang out of the cuffs by about 3 inches. Everything sticks to the fleece sleeves and bunches up. I have a boys and a girls. They both like the fleece alone because it is soft but neither likes the complete jacket. They also tell me they are always cold and wearing a sweater underneath is a problem.

This is a great quality coat...keeps her warm even in subzero temps
Very happy with the color, the quality of the coat and the ability to zipout the fleece. This is our 3rd Lands End Squall coat and I am very happy with how well they hold up. My 5yo feels cute and comfy in it and she has ability to zipout fleece when weather warms. Zippers are great and I love the reflective bits for safety.

The coat is wonderful
After reading all the reviews, I was worried that the coat's sleeves would be too narrow and that the two pieces would be hard to wear together. It was simply not the case. We have had no trouble what so ever. My daughter who is generally picky about fit and comfort, loves the coat! She keeps telling me how warm it is, which is a plus since we live in snowy, cold MN!:)

New arm design makes for very pricey frustration!
I too should have read and taken into strong consideration the reviews about the frustrations of the new arm design. We have been long supporters of Lands End clothing for our girls and have the earlier version of this coat. Our children have worn them for almost 3 seasons. I purchased 2 of these coats and their matching ski pants about a month and a half ago. We really just started to wear them in the last 2-3 weeks. We do not live in a very cold climate but regularly visit them. I have loved these coats in the past, as have our girls. The frustration that they have felt, as well as us in helping them get into these, does in no way justify the price we have paid. It seems as though all of their coats were made in this fashion this season. The fleece liners make it next to impossible to stay in place while trying to get their arms in and the tabs with velcro fasteners to hold the liner and outer shell together are a joke. With the previous design the outer and inner layers were held together with a tab that snapped securely. We are now stuck with coats that I will take the liners out of, making the outer shells quite a bit too large for the girls. I'll have to find something else for them to wear inside them or they will be swimming them! I really don't have any alternatives since other options have the same liners. You really should save your money and wait for next year's design. I'm certain Lands End will rethink this! At the great price they are being offered now though, you could order a size slightly smaller and just use them without the fleece liners.

VERY warm and durable
Bought this for my 10 year old who is very hard on clothing. I washed it twice in the first week due to snow/mud conditions and it still looks brand new. Have had it a month now and it is extremely warm, comfortable and durable.

Nice, but was much better with a down liner
My daughter had an earlier version of this--I think it was called the Expedition coat-that had a down inner jacket. She loved it. It was a really flexible set.
The individual pieces of this set are very nice, but the fleece jacket sleeves make it very difficult to get the coat on. I should have paid attention to the reviews. I wish they'd go back to the old design. It was much better.

Two Great Pieces that Don't Go Great Together
I bought these coats (one for my daughter, one for my son) last winter when they were on clearance and got a great price. I like the fleece liner and I like the waterproof outer shell. I like the idea of having a multi-purpose jacket, eliminating the need to buy separate rain coats. However, when I put the liner together with the shell, the sleeves are too narrow which makes the fit uncomfortable. Additionally, the fleece sleeves tend to grab whatever layer your child is already wearing and bunch it up around their elbows. Living in New England, our kids wear layers and it is impossible to wear this jacket full assembled with a sweater on. If you live somewhere with moderate temperatures and tend to just wear long sleeve shirts in the winter, you might be okay. But in our case, it is a dealbreaker. The kids also have a tough time taking the jacket off independently due to the clingy fleece and narrow sleeves. The elastic in the sleeves of the fleece and the liner fits snugly against their wrists, which is great for keeping out snow, but makes putting on snow mittens a bear. After a month of occasional wear with the liner and the complaints/crying from my kids, I have resorted to buying new jackets from another company. I was planning to return these, but I got such a deal I plan to keep them for use in more moderate weather and to wear the fleece as an additional layer.

Granddaughter loves it!
We have always bought the down jackets before and I was hesitant about ordering this one - the down jackets are not as good as they previously were and I actually sent one back last year. There was no need for me to worry because with the zip-out fleece jacket inside this one is just great. She has been in and out all yesterday and today playing in the ice and snow here in Texas! The sizing is perfect for her and there is room for other layers under the jacket. I definitely would recommend the jacket.
