Girls' Down Parka
Got Exactly What I Expected...Happily!
Contrary to some other viewers who said they felt the down-fill wouldn't be warm enough to last the winter and the color/sheen of the fabric wasn't what they expected, I am very satisfied with this purchase for my 7 year-old daughter. While we live in Virginia and admittedly don't experience many sub-zero days during the winter, I still feel that this parka is a nice weight, is of quality construction, and the length covers her bum nicely. We ordered the turquoise color, and, while it is not shiny like some of the other coats sold by Lands End, I believe it looks true to the photos. I especially like the contrasting lavender color of the zipper, which gives it a more modern look. All in all, as long as you know what to expect, I feel that you will be very satisfied with your purchase!

Great basic jacket
This is a great basic, warm jacket for my tween daughter. It has a flattering shape and a nice longer length. This is not a fancy jacket, but it looks nice and will definitely keep her warm this winter and next. Land's End jackets always hold up well and the zippers always work well.

FOR MY DAUGHTER
I am preparing for the winter and my daughter is the only one that needed a new coat. I got this one because to hurt less in the pocket but when she gets it on her it's a bit big. I did buy it a size that is next for her so she can wear sweaters underneth it but that's not what bothers me its the boxy pillow shape it has. Blue is her color to I got it in blue and the color of the coat she loves. She wears it anyway. I'm not giving up on this coat because she may be able to wear it next year too.

My girls love this coat and can't wait for cold weather to hit to put it to the test. Love the thumb hole sleeves so they can pull the sleeves snugly up to hands.

Great Basic Coat
Received this coat for my daughter. She is wearing the 6x-7 clothing so I ordered the same size in the coat. As another reviewer noted the sleeves are very long but with the thumb holes, they should stay in place. My daughter prefers longer sleeves anyway. As the description indicates it's warm without a lot of weight. While it hasn't been cold enough for this to be worn yet, I compared the weight to my own down coat, which has gotten me through very cold Chicago winters, and they feel very similar. The longer length is also a plus as it provides more coverage. It's not overly embellished and since I am hoping to get a couple winters out of this, my daughter won't grow tired of fussy details. I love it and she loves it.

Very basic coat
I originally had my mind set on the Expedition Parka for my daughter, but at the last minute decided to order this coat because of its longer length. My daughter wears long tunics and sweater dresses a lot in the winter, so I wanted a knee length coat, however I was disappointed in this coat when it arrived. Although the hot pink color was gorgeous, and the coat seemed very warm, it was just too basic for my liking. I ordered two sizes for my daughter, who wears a size 5 in girls clothes, because I was hoping to get two winters out of it. The 5/6 was tremendous and there was no way she could wear that size this year. The size 4 fit perfectly on her body and in length, however the sleeves were extremely long and there was no velcro or elastic to pull them tight around the wrist, so I had to cuff them to make them fit. It looked very sloppy. Also, I thought the fabric was going to be a shiny nylon or satin, but it was a matte finish. There is no shine at all to dress it up. And while it is WATER RESISTANT, it is not WATERPROOF, and will not stay dry if a child goes out to play in the snow. Lastly, I just did not like that there was no fleece lining or decorative accent around the hood. Overall, the coat was just too plain and did not compare at all to the Expedition Parka, so I returned it and went with the parka. Although the Expedition Parka does not have the extra length and is quite a bit more expensive, it has a lot more features. I bought the Expedition Parka for my son last year and absolutely loved it, so I know I will be happy with it for my daughter. Overall, although this coat was not what I was looking for, it is perfect for someone who wants a very basic down coat at a good price.

I was shocked, when I opened the parcel and saw this parka! The coat is not as described, and it looks different in life than the internet image. The material is of poor quality - it's not waterproof, and definitely does not look/feel warm enough for a NY winter. For SC/GA, may be, but definitely not warm enough for NY or any other northern States. I ordered the medium size (5-6 y.o.), in deep lilac. In the picture, the coat looks light purple, while in reality it's a very dark purple color. The coat would barely fit my 5 y.o. - forget trying to put it on a 6 y.o.! It's also too short, while it's described as a longer coat. I'm returning this coat, as it's absolutely not as described.
