Boys' Waterproof Squall Parka
waterproof put to the test...and passes!
Great weight and warmth, and mobility, and keeps him dry. We were just out in the rainy snow, and my 5 year olds likes to roll around in the snow! And this coat did its job!

Prefer earlier versions
Great, durable coat. I've bought this coat several times for my son. We can usually get one winter out of it and sometimes part of another winter depending on growth. My daughter wears his first LE parka now. Although the coat is warm and durable I do miss the reflective piping and decal on the back. We often walk to our neighborhood grocery store in the evening or play outside late. I like the extra safety feature of the reflectors on earlier versions.

The Ultimate Winter Coat for Kids!
This was our first experience with Lands End winter gear - bought this coat for a snow vacation (temps 15-35F), but quickly realized it's even great for our milder winter weather in Texas (temps 35-60F)! The coat is WARM and waterproof. But it's so well designed with lots of unique features and that really makes it stand out. My son LOVES the thumb loops in the sleeves that allow him to insulate his wrists from the winter chill and provides an extra barrier when he slips his mittens on. We love the soft fleece lining in the upper jacket, but REALLY love it in the hood. The hood fits nicely over the child's head and frames the face in just the right places, so it doesn't block vision and STAYS PUT. The bottom of the hood and neck area seal nicely to create a barrier from wind and cold - protecting the neck and even allowing the child to tuck in their chin and mouth for protection. We thought the side pockets were fine - easy for tucking mittens into or other small items - and the exterior and interior "hide away" pockets are clever and useful too! Haven't used it yet, but I love the "grow-a-long" feature that allows you to let out the sleeves as your child grows to get more use out of the coat. Great, great quality winter jacket that I would highly recommend to any mom.

LE thought of everything when it came to this coat - proper lining, waterproof, even sleeves that you can easily lengthen as your child grows. Even if you pay full price for it, you'd be getting a deal. Lovely colors and excellent stitching throughout. We have not sent our boys' coats through the wash yet, but I don't expect any problems based on the design.

Our #1 favorite coat
Bought this for my four year old, this is the only coat we ever buy for our snowy, frigid New England winters! Love the parkas longer length, our last one we got 3 years out of. My kids generally out grow the coat across the shoulders and back before they out grow the arm lengths to cut the "grow-a-long" seem. You will not be disappointed with this purchase, my kids generally only wear a long sleeve shirt underneath but add a sweater or fleece for skiing. No bulk for the car seats either!

Son appreciates the inner jacket layer.
My skinny kid can be warm wearing just a tee shirt and this jacket. . The polar fleece lining is much appreciated and he loves the blue color. Jacket is well made and will be handed down. Grow along sleeves were important reason for purchase.

We love it
Perfect fit, perfect warmth, not too bulky. Daughter has the other Squall with removable fleece. We're not big fans b/c she constantly has trouble with the sleeves of fleece bulking up. But otherwise, they're both great jackets. Got them with coupon code and on sale. Win/Win!

great look and fit
My son has to wait outside for the bus at 6:20 AM and this coat keeps him warm. And the snow plow can see the bright colored coat so it doesn't run him over.

Fantastic but please bring back the reflective trim.
With 3 children, this is probably the 5th squall parka I've bought. The quality and durability are excellent. After a season or 2 of wear, they always wash well and hold up. I'd give 5 starts, but please bring back the reflective trim. That was a selling feature for me and I didn't realize it was gone until after I purchased. My kids are at the bus stop on the cold, dark mornings and it's amazing how that trim would would 'light up.'

Durable, warm and sized right
I ordered the Squall because my son has destroyed two department store brand winter coats in the past year. I decided to spend the extra money on a quality Lands End product that would last. So far, so good! The other coats began ripping at seams within weeks and the Squall still looks brand new over a month later, which for my son is impressive. It is very warm and the hood fits snugly, which is an unanticipated benefit. My son really likes it and stays plenty warm even on the coldest days.
