Boy's Squall Parka
Fit is way too small
The sizing instructions suggest ordering at current size. We ordered a size 8 - my son's current size - and when it arrived it was too small for him already. The sleeves were too short and the coat's length on him looked like a jacket fit, not a parka fit. Basically, It looked more like a larger size 6 coat, and would have fit my 5 year old just fine. I like Lands' End coats and they're usually great quality. But if you want this coat, order at least 1 size UP

Great Parka Miss the Drawstring
My 12 year old loves this parka and keeps him nice and warm in the cold weather. He especially likes the handwarmers. I do miss the drawstring. We have 2 other of these parkas with drawstrings around the waist and the fit is so much better. Does it really save that much money to take it out? These parkas wear well. We are passing them down as my oldest grows out of them and they still look new.

exactly what I was looking for
Great coat. Warm and my son loves the thumb holes. The reflective strips are great too. We were on a later night walk and it made him easier to spot. Very happy with this coat.

My 3rd One
I bought the first one for my oldest son, he wore it for two winters and then we passed it down to my younger son. Typically my younger can wear them two winters as well (I buy big to start). These have held up extremely well and even after 4 years of use, we can pass it down to someone who needs a warm jacket. We live in Colorado, so they have definitely tested them in cold weather on the mountain...and I never heard complaints about them being too cold. I am buying the next size up in this jacket as my son grew enough to need a new one for this winter.
Highly recommend this jacket.

Perfect jacket for winter in Cleveland!
I have three boys, and only buy Lands End outerwear. It is always guaranteed to be well-made, of high-quality materials and very durable. The best thing (and a surprise) was that the fleece lining comes down over your hands if you want it to (you stick your thumb out of the opening). So my son loves that, b/c there is no gap between his gloves and the cuff of the coat. There are tiny reflective edges on the front and back which are great b/c they walk to school. Can't say enough - love the coat!

Very warm but not bulky.
My son is very picky about his coat being "too puffy." This coat is very warm without the bulk. Great colors to choose from. Some of my favorite features are the sleeves with the thumb holes and the ability to extend the sleeves as my son grows. Perfect fit. True to size.

Have to see if it is warm enough: it is for next year.

Good winter jacket
I had to buy a replacement jacket this winter for my youngest son who had finally broken the zipper on a hand-me-down puffy down jacket. I had come online looking for a similar down jacket, and found this one instead. The reviews were good, and it seems to be sturdily made, and the extra sleeve length from the grow along sleeves will extend it through next year.
It does seem well made, good seams and finishing, and it seems warm enough. It is on the thin side compared to puffy down jackets I am used to. I have always relied on down to get through winters in Canada... but he has not complained of being cold (and it has been cold!). It just may need to be a shift in thinking for me and my down-buying ways. :-)
We bought the Little Boys Large (7) in Evergreen (his colour choice). He is 6 giong on 7, is 3' 11" and 48lbs, and this fits with enough room for next year. The colour is as it shows online. I recommend this jacket, especially at the sale price.
