Boys' Squall Jacket
I have bought my 2 boys (now 11 & 6) this jacket for at least 5 years now. Once I found it there was no going back to any other Coat. My boys can both get at least 2-3 years of wear out of each jacket. The grow a long sleeves really help with that! They are still in great condition after 2-3 years of use. So big brothers is always passed down to little brother. Then they are passed on to our cousins.......they last year after year, and wash after wash! (just follow the washing instructions!) After scout camp outs this jacket is washed up and looks and smells as good as new!
We live in North Texas and this really is the only coat they need! They wear it in 30 degrees and are fine playing on the trampoline. They wear it in the snow with your snow bibs and are plenty warm. I can't say enough about this jacket. I do wish it were a little longer (they always outgrow the length of the jacket before the sleeves) ....I don't love the parka squall style. and the parka is almost too long for here in North Texas. This makes a perfect coat for school on cold days. And the thumb holes are AWESOME! Who doesn't want fleece thumb holes?
I always get these on sale......but even if I didn't catch a sale it's still an amazing value!

Great coat. Horrible colors, especially for boys.
Landsend... I love the Squall Jacket. My twins love playing outside in the mountains of upstate New York and this coat is warm, dry, lightweight and not constricting! But, seriously, Landsend. They are getting to an age where aesthetics matter to them. The girls' colors are okay, but the boys' colors/design are horrible!! Please, please. You make a very good quality product at a reasonable price point. Could you please do something less... Fuddy duddy? Please?!?! Even your competitors are doing better in this regard...

I may try the parka next time
I was excited to purchase this jacket, especially because it has thumbholes, my son really likes his thumbholes. I received it, took the tags off and wrote his name in it. I really wish I had waited to try it on him first. The fit through the body is just weird on him. I purchased this a size bigger (7) he normally wears a (5/6) and sadly I'm concerned he'll outgrow it before the winter is even over. I know it says the body is shorter, but when he raises his arms his tummy shows! Next time I'll get the parka and try it on before I decide whether we're keeping it or not. It does seem well made, cozy and warm, so I'm giving it three stars.

Satisfied as Expected
This is my son's second fleece lined squall jacket. We were very happy with the first - warm but no too bulky. Wore well and lasted two seasons with the sleeve extensions. Our neighbor wore it a third season after losing her jacket and it still looked good. We were happy with the green color option this year for something different.

no longer come with drawstrings at waist :(
I have been buying these and (the parka version) for my kids for years and am very disappointed that they both no longer come with the drawstring feature at the waistline. This is a deal breaker for us, as the drawstring added that extra protection for our slim kids. A true must, especially when they aren't wearing snow pants. This was my go to coat because of fit, warmth and the grow along sleeves that make the coat last for multiple seasons. Not sure what will do this year. I can't be the only parent missing this feature. Lands End- please put back the drawstrings!!

Love this coat
This is the second one I have purchased for my son. It is warm and blocks out the cold. I can usually get two winters with these coats since the sleeves can be let out. Such a value for such a great winter coat.

The Grow-A-Long Feature is Great
I bought my toddler son his first Grow-A-Long jacket and bibs last season. Both pieces kept him warm and comfortable. The jacket was washed numerous times over the winter and has held up well- it doesn't look worn or faded. Due to the Grow-A-Long feature, I can get another season out of both the jacket and bibs, which makes this a great value to me. I was disappointed in the selection of Grow-A-Long jackets and bibs for toddler girls this season, as I had planned to buy my daughter her first Grow-A-Longs. However, I do hope to buy Grow-A-Long jackets and bibs for both kids next winter!

This is a great jacket!
The fit is just a tad big, not a bad thing in a winter jacket. It is warm without being bulky. I have bought multiple sizes over the last five years as my grandchildren grow, and have always been satisfied, as have they!
