Boys' Iron KneeŽ Twill Cadet Pants
This year's model is not as good as 2012-2013 pants
I purchased a pair of khaki cadet pants with iron knees at the end of 2012 on sale for my 5 year old son. I loved them they were made of thick material. Then I purchased a 2 pairs January 2014....wow, was I disappointed. Everything I loved about the other pair were gone this year. The pants were much thinner & after one day in the green pants, the knees looked white. I wish you kept the thick material. I would gladly pay more for the better material. Now I'm back to square one, trying to find school pants that the knees won't look dingy after one use!!!!

Looked awful on my Cadet.
How disappointing. The fit was all wrong on our tall and slim teenage son. The waist was far too large, and the legs far too short. They were wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. The fabric did not feel as sturdy as I expected.

These pants are a great fit, material and color.
It is very hard to find pants that fit my son, but these fit the bill! They are a soft but durable fabric. He has worn them about 5 times, so I don't know about the "iron knees" yet, but I am hoping for good things! I have read a couple reviews that we can exchange them if they wear out - which would be so cool! They are a darker khaki, almost rust color, which is still acceptable at his school, and I do like it.
The 12 husky that we purchased is a bit larger than the other husky pants we have purchased elsewhere, and I like that it is a bit roomier and we can use the elastic adjustable (which we never have.)
He wears them to school and to church and they are comfy enough even to wear to play (but I make him take them off to keep them clean!)

Happy with this purchase
The pants fit well and are good quality. My son wears them for boy scouts. I was concerned about previous reviews saying the pocket flaps stick up but I haven't had a problem. Maybe it's because I dry them for several minutes and then hang them to dry, and I press down the flaps before I hang them. I do this with the kids cargo shorts with those types of pockets too.

My son loves these pants.
My 11 year old has to wear a uniform. He loves these pants. Very comfortable, wash well and hold up nice.
The back pocket has a flap, he tucks it into the pocket, looks fine.

Good, solid pants, will definitely buy again
I bought both of my sons the blue for school, and we've been pretty happy with them! FINALLY! Pants that hold up! I was happy I saw the reviews about the bunchy back flap on the pocket, and the practical solution of tucking it right into the pocket--thanks for that! I wish there were more colors available... we're always looking for nice black pants, or a dark brown. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is because I'm not thrilled with the way the color ends up washing into a plain ol' blue rather than a real deep navy, which is what I prefer. Aside from that, my boys are really happy with these, and I'll definitely be buying them again (when I have a coupon!!! 2 boys x 2 or 3 pairs each = WAY too much $$$!!!) BTW-- the iron knee is a lifesaver-- my kids rip through TCP pants like they're paper, so these have been heaven-sent for me.

Changes NOT for the better!
The light beige Cadet Pants have been changed from last year...they are longer, and also I am surprised no one has reported their biggest flaw...we use these for uniform pants, and ironing them with the either newer slightly stretchy fabric/ or slightly stretchy thread, I don't know which, is an absolute nightmare. We have them in the dark navy also, and that material is really 100% cotton, and they iron up beautifully. The seams on these light beige ones are puckering, making ironing nearly impossible to accomplish, because no matter how careful you are, you are ironing wrinkles into them, usually from the other side...I also have never been in love with the back pocket flap, but would just iron it as flat as possible even though they "stand at attention" no matter what. Unless your object is to make moms that iron completely crazy, PLEASE take a look at what I am sending back to you, as if I do not get these out of my house within the next 72 hours I may just burn them!!!

This year bigger; back pocket floppier!
We love these pants--all of my boys have them and wear them every day.
I despise the back pocket flap--it is such an eyesore on otherwise perfect pants--even for high school juniors and seniors. I expect these to make the transition to college.
Ordered #2 Son who is 5'11" a new pair in Sept 2013--and they are much roomier and longer than the same size from last year.
If Lands End comes up with a way to retro fit the pocket flap to keep them down--please let me know! I would even mail all of them back to LE to have them sewn down.

Excellent pants, but run bigger than last year
My very slim son loves these pants. The back pocket flaps are unsightly (LE, just get rid of them!), but we usually tuck them into the pocket and it doesn't seem to bother him. However, these do run large, compared to last year's sizing. Last fall I ordered my son a 5 slim, he eventually outgrew them, so this fall I ordered a 6 slim. Well, the 6 slims are at least 2-3 inches too long and too big in the waist! I'll have to reorder size 5 slims. This is definitely not due to shrinkage - the sizing must have been changed. It's frustrating to have to order and reorder the same exact item, but he LOVES the pants.

have not worn them yet, but look great
These are slightly different from the ones we got last year that I wasn't so thrilled about. My gripe with last year's is that they were cut very small and my son grew out of them very quickly. These are not only much roomier, but are less fussy style-wise. They look really nice and the colors are great. Expecting that they will last for the school year.
