Boys' Down Parka
Large is same fit as women's small...
Got a large for my daughter. Runs big. Fits me perfectly and I wear a women's small.

Boys like it so far...
We have had a milder winter than I feared, after last year's Christmas ice storm and power outages, but I can safely say that my twin grandsons did *not* look at the parkas and say they were too girly or anything like that because of the diagonal stitching, as a couple of negative reviews indicated. I did buy grey v. the bright blue, knowing that the bright color would be thought dorky. My grandsons said I was right. They love the sleeves with the thumb-hole for keeping cold out, and the warm hoods. And 1/2 price for cozy down!

Good but has its flaws
I need a simple lightweight down jacket for my busy busy boys who can't spend an extra second to get their jackets on and this jacket does the trick, except the wrist cuffs. As they put their hands through the wrist cuffs, the extra fabric attached to the cuffs get push forward too much that it requires them to use their other hand to pull the hand through and push the extra fabric back into the sleeves. It's okay for my 6 year old to do it, but for my 4 year old, it is extremely troublesome that his hands can't go right through, and he gets so frustrated with it. Even when I'm there to help him get his hand through, I find myself having a hard time with it. I've attached a picture to show the extra fabric outside of the sleeves. I've also attached a picture of an older version of Landsend down jacket that had a wrist cuffs that made sense (no extra fabric). My trouble with this jacket is rather hard to explain but I hope the pictures I've attached of the two versions would get my point across. Though the older jacket is a toddler size and I don't know if the toddler sizes have different wrist cuffs.

Ordered for my son - he loves the color blue - fits slightly larger than size - he says it's very warm and loves the hand warmers. Price is great (purchased at 40%). He will definitely wear it this year and next.

sized poorly, but perfect for an unintended audience
Bought this for a 5 year old boy in size 5-6. It's being very happily worn over a sweater by a 7 year old girl, who normally wears size 7. She loves the blue color, the longer length, and the size is excellent for her. The boy liked the color, too, but was absolutely swimming in it. Very strange sizing, although it worked out and the coat is great if you can ignore that as we have.

Was this coat an afterthought by the 2014 Design Team ? Curiously feminine design...
This coat is an oddity - it's supposed to be the "Lands End Boys Down Parka" for 2014 - but the choice of colors and the curious slightly feminine styling make me think that not much thought went into this coat. I don't think any self-respecting teen would want to wear this. The diagonal quilting is way too 'girly'. Compare this coat to the down jackets and parkas for Boys from 2010-2012 (only a couple of years ago !!) - there is no comparison - even better, take a look at the down outerwear for Boys from the early 2000's from the Lands End Catalog - there you will find great colors, great styling and what you would call 'real' down parkas. Sorry Lands End - you missed the boat completely on this one. Please consider looking in your 'archives' for next year to see what a Boys Down parka should really be like.

Zipper colors different from picture
The only reason I would not recommend this coat is because the zippers shown in the online pictures for the grey quartz coat do not match the zippers on the (two) different coats sent to me. The online picture shows that the side pocket zippers are the same shade of grey as the coat. The actual pocket zippers are blue. This also applies to the front zipper. The online picture seems to indicate that the zipper teeth are blue, but the binding around the zipper is grey to match the coat. The actual coat has blue zipper teeth and blue binding. This just makes the coat a little more masculine than the picture shows it to be. I understand that this coat is under "boys" but I bought this coat specifically to be my son's first and my daughter's after that because I felt it was a very gender-neutral coat and I was thrilled to find a neutral coat on Land's End after requesting them to make some. I am ultimately keeping the coat because I feel the value and quality outweigh the blue zippers, but I wanted to make an honest review. All the customer service representatives I've worked with about this issue have been very pleasant and understanding.

This coat seems to be cut for a girl
The coat in size large was too big for my son and in size medium was too small. The cut is long and really looks like a girl's coat. We tried one in each color. The grey color is a little flat, the blue color is very nice, but also a little feminine when coupled with the cut. All in all, it did not work for us at all.
