I use flannel flat sheets as a Summer-weight blanket on my beds. I use the same silky, fine cotton bed sheets that I use all year. I simply adjust the "blanket" weight from flannel to wool, according to the season. For that reason I appreciate very much having the option to purchase the flats separately - I have little use for the fitted sheet or the pillow cases. A flannel flat over a nice regular bed sheet is also just the right thing for the tropics.
I also appreciate the range of colours that are available and the generous size of the flat sheets. For comfort, I believe a top sheet, flannel or otherwise, needs to overhang at least 18" on both sides of the mattress. These do, even after washing and machine drying. Quite often in fact I use a King size sheet on a queen bed and a double sheet on a twin bed for additional overhang. My beds a fairly high off the ground and this additional overhang feels and looks luxurious to me.
On the matter of washing, I have had no problem with colour fading or blotching. Of course, one should NOT use bleach which in my mind is the only thing that might cause the colour blotching problems reported earlier that caused me to hesitate before purchasing. In fact, I have found these flat sheets to wash and dry as well as any that I've ever owned. I rarely use machine drying except for towels that must be very dry and fluffed-up. I also dry flannel sheets by machine for the same reason - they actually feel thicker and fluffier after washing and drying than before. And yes, the lint catcher WILL fill up with lint during that first drying cycle. This is normal for flannel. The process of drying merely picks up the loose material that is the product's natural make-up and will become less and less with subsequent washings. Anyone who has been brought up with cotton flannel as a material of choice for blankets, diapers etc. will know that I speak from experience. Flannel is a wonderful material that breathes! We are so lucky that it is still available today, in this sea of synthetics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Foxrivervalley excellent quality comfortable sheets
I received the sheets, washed them and put them on the bed. They are wonderfully soft and comfortable. No problems at all with pilling or shedding. No complaints about the fit. Liked the color selections. Will buy these again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HSVT Horrible pilling
Although I washed and dried these before using, they pilled horribly wherever I laid on them. Very uncomfortable. I have bought and enjoyed LE flannel sheets for many years, and have never had this experience. Returning them and concerned about finding good ones.

Really disappointing. And frustrating. These sheets are laundered weekly, and the volume of red lint that continues to shed after six months of continuous use is ridiculous. I would take Lands' End at their good word and return these, but my son won't give them up for anything. So I grit my teeth. If you can avoid these, do, and move up to the 6 oz flannel from Lands End. We have used the 6oz flannel every winter for about 10 years (we're now just on our second set) and simply couldn't be more satisfied -- they are soft, have a smooth almost suede-like hand, wash beautifully, and fit our deep mattress properly. And when on sale are a worthwhile investment. If the 6oz. had been available in the deep red colour favoured by my son he'd be sleeping on them instead of the poor-ish quality of the 5oz.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Zuleena Eggshell was a great color and good quality
I purchased 2 sets of queen eggshell sheet sets and loved the feel and quality. Purchased another 2 sets of the eggshell queen sized. Quality of the fabric has been the best - wash after wash since buying several months ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Squeaky the pillow cases are narrower
I have used my flannel sheets and pillow cases year round for many years and love them. However, I just ordered some new pillow cases and found that they are 2 inches narrower than my old ones. Once they are washed, they shrink a little and it takes a whole lot of shaking to get the pillow in the case. The fabric is still of great quality and very soft, but you could have narrowed the case by 1 inch and made it easier to get on the pillow. If you have neck problems, all this shaking is not for you. Are the sheets smaller too?

Rated 2 out of 5 by SEDAVIS62 Quality Tanked! Pilling Galore
I could depend on Lands End flannel sheets to NOT pill after washing. The set I received a couple weeks ago pilled horrendously after only TWO washings! Not only that, they created a snowstorm of cotton pieces from the day I got them. They behave like sheets that cost half as much at other places. I am very disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PegLynn Pills and not as good as my former sheets from Landsend
I have bought the Supima 6 oz sheets in the past for myself, as Christmas gifts for my adult children, and I wasn't hesitant to buy another set from Landsend when I bought a new King Sized bed. I was very disappointed in the quality of these sheets. Landsend has always been my go to for flannel sheets but was surprised with these. I don't see that they sell the ones that I have bought previously.

Rated 2 out of 5 by IamBabz Not as soft - disappointed
I have been buying Lands End flannel sheets for many years and have always loved them for their softness and quality. However, this sheet set is just not up to par. It says they are 100% soft cotton but they have a very weird feeling to them even after 3x laundered. Hard to describe - but they are not soft like the others. I bought them on sale, at least the price was very good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Shortsheeted Not the same
I've purchased and used Lands End flannel sheets for years. The fitted sheet has always been extra deep and the flat sheet extra wide. Not anymore. I just received my new set last week and after washing the fitted sheet barely fits my pillow top mattress and the flat sheet barely covered the mattress on each side. They used to be 6 oz as well. We'll see how they hold up, but beware they are not the same dimensions as in previous years.
