NOT THE SAME SHOE !! I used to wear these shoes exclusively in the 1970's and 1980's. They used to be soooooo comfortable and well made. I wore them with pride. I was so happy to see that Landsend was carrying them.....I could not wait to receive them. Wow.......when they arrived I was SHOCKED to see the poor quality shoes I took out of the box.....not even close to the original. They are not worth $60.......perhaps $9. April 29, 2013
True to size for me I normally wear a 9; sometimes a 9 1/2 if a shoe runs small. The 9 fits perfectly even with socks. Width might be an issue for some because to me they run a little narrow, if your feet are somewhat narrow like mine it will be just fine but if not, these will be tight most likely. I can't comment on the quality as compared to the 80's Tretorn because I didn't wear them then; but I don't see a big issue with these and don't think they're as cheap feeling as some. Definitely not super cushioned however. I bought them for the overall look and style and am not disappointed. April 14, 2013
2nd Review On This Item I posted one review, but it didn't get published/posted, so I will try again. I originally ordered these shoes about four years ago through this site and they were much like the originals (think late 1970s - early 1980s) with the terry lining. I decided on another pair and ordered from here again. I received a the shoes along with several unpleasant surprises. First, after I ordered, I found that these shoes are exempt from any promotional codes, so I didn't receive the 30% off. Second, when I opened the box I was shocked at the thin canvas material and the fact that these were completely unlined. Third, each shoe had sticking out of the back of the heel, a tag resembling a "Do not remove by penalty of law" mattress-type tag which needs to be cut off of each shoe's exterior before wearing. Paying full price - $60.00 - for a pair of skimpy, cheaply-made shoes is ridiculous. I really do not understand why Land's End doesn't allow a promotional code to be used on this item. These aren't $60.00 shoes, they might be $10.00 shoes. I guess one pays for the name as the quality is certainly lacking. While the fit is just fine, the quality is shockingly bad. March 5, 2013
not the originals but not so bad. After reading the reviews, I was expecting them to be way off colour...but they're fine. I miss the original terry interior but they still feel oh so light and look good! They were a bit small in length ( I bought according to the LE size chart which seemed generous and made me feel a size 10 would do- I'm normally a 10.5) If they had had half sizes, I would have gone one 1/2 up....so I guess they're a true fit. My bad....hope they give a bit...A thumb up! July 25, 2012
Was looking for an inexpensive pair of "tennis" shoes. These work. Someone came up to me today and said, "Now that's an old fashioned pair of shoes". I said that I have always liked that look and tend to dress a little preppy anyway. My one complaint is that my left foot is larger and I purchased a 6.5 women's but could have used a 7.0 for my left foot! Don't know how Lands' End would solve that one! These are lace shoes and that's a nuisance but I still prefer the older look in a sneaker. July 21, 2012
comfortable They are not like the orginial ones but I like them because I have to put a lift on the shoe, too may of the sneakers out there are not flat so I can put a lift on them. They aren't a true white but it doesn;t bother me, they have a rounded toe and that makes them more comfortable for me, July 8, 2012
Awesome lightweight sneaker I have never owned a pair of Tretorn Sneakers, so I can't compare these to the "original" shoe. I can say that I have multiple feet, leg, back and hip medical conditions, and this shoe is the answer to many prayers! They are lightweight AND supportive, which I have found impossible to find. I have been able to wear them for several hours at a time without any kind of rubbing or pain, and I have found that I "forget" I am even wearing them. For anyone with any kind of medical condition affecting the lower torso, I highly recommend that you try this sneaker. Now I wish I had bought more than one pair. I discovered them when they were on sale, and hope they go on sale again soon. Canvas is wonderful during the summer and early fall seasons here in Seattle. Not so much during the really wet months of the year though! July 7, 2012
Not exactly as the Tretorn of yesteryear but still a good sneaker So as others have indicated, these Tretorn aren't exactly like the ones back in the 80s (when I wore them as a teenager). The old sneaker style canvas was much thicker and more structured. The foot bed was lined with terry cloth and very comfortable (and also available in many different logo colours). These newer styled Tretorn available at LE are still great -- I broke down and paid full price a couple months back for the white version in a 7.5 (my usual size, however it can range to 8 if the shoe is narrow). I thought they might be a tad too narrow at first, but the canvas relaxed a bit and they are perfect. The foot bed is also very comfortable and they're great both with and without socks. I also bought a few pairs on sale (two for my mom and two more for me - including an extra pair in white!) because they were a fantastic deal and they look great with everything. I'd buy more colours if they were offered and probably pay full price (a nice plaid logo would be great). Overall, a good sneaker and I recommend them to others. July 1, 2012
Perfect without socks! The best shoes ever without socks!! June 21, 2012
Disappointed I was so excited to find Tretorns again after all these years and couldn't wait to get them. When they arrived, I was very disappointed to see that the quality is poor, not like the ones I had years ago. The canvas is stiff and there is little support or cushion in the sole of the shoe. I will be returning them. December 15, 2011
