Noisy When I was deciding whether to order this jacket, I read a lot of reviews that said it is noisy. I couldn't imagine that this would be an issue for me so I ordered it. And now that I have it, they are right. The noise is like one of those warm-up suits where every time you slightly move it makes noise. Anyway, I'm taking it back. Other than the noise, I have no idea if it's a good jacket. It could very well be. November 27, 2011
Just what I wanted in a jacket. Other than the sizing this jacket is great. Wind proof. Water proof. Warm. November 26, 2011
A warm, good-looking jacket! I love it! It fits perfectly, too. I am 5'1" tall, weigh 123 pounds, and the small (regular size) fits me perfectly. The jacket is cozy, lightweight, and attractive and is the perfect thing for wearing with jeans, khakis, etc. I would heartily recommend it. November 26, 2011
Lightweight and warm and good looking, too I had a squall jacket for 6 years and it was time to replace it. This one seems a bit lighter but just as warm. I like that it is roomy so I can layer it as needed. I use it for the Fall and Spring and those occasional warmer Winter days. The red with the grey fleece is perfect for Ohio State foot ball games!! COMPARED TO MY OLD ONE, LIGHTER WEIGHT BUT SAME FIT THE QUALITY WAS GREAT, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT WAS THE OLD STYLE JACKET AND AT A REDUCED PRICE. THIS IS MY 'WORK HORSE JACKET' . I USE IT FOR SHOPPING, ETC. MUCH BETTER FIT THAN THE NEW STYLE, WHICH I HAD TO RETURN BECAUSE IT FIT LIKE A STRAIGHTJACKET! November 26, 2011
Love this jacket but men reviews are right: it is TOOOOOOOO NOISY My previous squall lasted at least 15 years and only had to be retired because the zipper was damaged...no fault of the jacket. I had replaced it with another jacket 'system' and found that too confining. So the next move was to return to my tried and true 'squall.' It is pretty good. I would prefer a zipper on the inside pocket instead of velcro (if my phone falls out in an emergency, it is serious)otherwise it is fine. HOWEVER, the material they have chosen to use makes amazing noise just by moving your arms. This morning I had trouble taking a blanket off my horse because she was made nervous with the 'rubbing' noise. I realize I won't be able to wear this on my walks in the woods because I enjoy seeing wild life. This won't be possible if I'm wearing this jacket. They will get scared away before I see them. I would return the jacket but will try repeated washings to see if that reduces the noise because I think the jacket is well-sized and can accommodate an under-layer or not. I will wear it for outdoor chores because I think it is very comfortable but I'm disappointed it won't accommodate my walks, etc.... I hope Land's end reads these reviews and looks into different fabric for this otherwise great product. January 21, 2011
I am somewhat disappointed in this jacket. This squall is skimpier and chintzier than the Lands End one I replaced which was about 12 years old. The lining feels more like flannel than fleece, and I don't care for the light color of the lining because it will show neck soil more readily than the dark colors. The squall I replaced was red with navy lining. I wish the women's had come with the grey lining that the men's have. January 16, 2011
