Your friendly writer recently saw a vintage pattern (circa early ’50s) for a dress similar to this. Ours takes the basic idea modern — with a fun above-knee length and great slub chambray fabric. And isn’t it nice that white gloves have become an option (rather than a requirement)? 100% cotton. Machine wash. Imported.

So disappointing!
This dress looks so cute in the photos and I was so excited to receive it! However when I put it on I was so disappointed. Somehow, the fabric looks way different in person - kind of cheap and the colors are blinding and look weird next to each other. I think I have a nice figure, but the cut of the bodice made me look super-dumpy - maybe it was the piping at the waist seam? I have a 41 inch chest and the size 14 fit me pretty well, aside from the dumpiness. The skirt was so much shorter than in the photos! I'm 5'11" and I thought it would be a little shorter than on the model, but she must be really short because this looked like I'd put on a dress for a rotund little girl. The pockets were nice, but the skirt is so full that one good breeze and you'd be mooning the neighborhood! This is going back asap!

Runs really big, super soft fabric, poufy skirt
I wanted a cute, light weight summer dress to take to Asia with me. This one fits the bill, but beware... it fits very large! I would exchange it for a smaller size, but they don't have any in stock. So I will belt it within an inch of it's life, wear a light shrug over it and call it good. The weight of the fabric is excellent, light and airy, perfect for hot, humid conditions. The skirt is a bit poufy, but long enough that a breeze won't create a "Marilyn Monroe" moment.

very comfortable fit
I'm 5'2" weighing 145 lbs. I usually wear a size 8 but most size 8 dresses are too tight on the chest for me, I am a size 36dd. I bought this dress in a size 10P and the chest area fits perfectly! It's modest and so pretty. The waist is high on me and a bit loose but not anything that a wide belt can't fix.

too big
Cute but OH SO BIG. My measurements are 42-35-42; I prudently sized down to a 14. The dress was laughably too large...not sure a 12 would even have done the trick. I'm talking big handfuls of fabric under the arms and several inches at my thick-around-the-middle waist! Loved the retro styling, but am bitter about the return postage!!!!

Simply adorable, but as usual the lingerie loops don't work
The colors in this dress remind me of all the summers I spent as a kid playing on the beach and eating peach, strawberry, and vanilla flavored ice cream. The material is lightweight, the pattern is fun, and the shape is youthful while still being flattering to a woman's body. I can't wait to wear this next summer, it's my new favorite summer dress. Size down in this one, but if you're borderline petite like I am, stick with the regular length garment. I gave this 4 boats instead of five because the lingerie loops in the shoulders are far too short for my bra straps. I'm a size 14 with a proportionate bust, nothing unusual, and these loops just won't close around my straps. It's a frustrating problem that I wish LE would fix.

Wonderful Summer Dress
This dress was a fall sale purchase because I needed a light, cool, comfortable dress to wear during our scorching fall temperatures in Los Angeles. It fits perfectly. I wear size 8 and ordered a size 6 after reading the other reviews. The fit is not tight in the least---a very roomy size 6. One could order it smaller so that the bodice and waist fit more snugly, but I wanted a dress that had a fitted cut while not cinching me at the bodice or the waist. The fabric is a light-weight cotton with a slight texture to it. It feels and looks substantial and not like a bargain basement flimsy cotton shift (my fear). The waist line has piping which adds a detail typically found on better made clothing. The colors of the stripes are: bright orange, coral, pale taupe, salmon---they blend together beautifully.

Beautiful fabric but styling not great on me.
The petite 14 I got was a good overall length on me, but the bodice was just too short waisted. The proportion was not good on me. I'm 5'4" amd sometimes LE petite works well for me, but often it does not. Colors were lovely. The cotton was a bit heavier weight than I expected.

A true sundress!
Love it! Something like my mother used to wear but way more updated. Beachy colors, great finishing, dress for many occasions. Flattering all around fit. Flouncy skirt just right. Waited for this a while...
