It’s unlike any Lands’ End dress we’ve ever offered, with texture and refinement galore. The bodice is made of plush, stretchy knit velvet. But the skirt is the amazing part: flocked ponté! It’s dressy, yet completely practical. And so, so pretty. Bodice: 90% polyester/10% spandex; Skirt: 70% polyester/26% rayon/4% spandex. Hand wash. Imported.

Very Flattering on an Hourglass but Too Short
This dress looks really lovely on my 5'11" 16/18 frame (I ordered an 18.) The waistline works if you have the type of body that requires a cinch under the bust line (ie, if you're curvy and want to show off your curves). The fabrics are rich-looking and comfortable. The neckline falls a little funny though -- like it's thinking about having a cowlneck, but not quite there and a little uneven. Only major peeve is that it's too short. I could wear this to a dinner party, but not to work.

Waist too high
I'm 6' tall and I have a bust so this high waisted design was not good, at all! Looked ridiculous. If I were petitie and small busted it might have ben a winner. Sending it back, so disappointed. I had such high hopes.

GORGEOUS, FLATTERING AND FUN!
I absolutely LOVE this dress and that says something because I have a very large bust and smaller waist and hips so most dresses don't fit in either the top or bottom, or just end up looking like a tent on me. I HATE shopping for dresses and haven't bought one in years, so I took a chance when ordering this on-line because it was such a fantastic deal on sale with the added 30% off. If you are heavy-chested like me, this dress is the perfect solution! The black velvet bodice with the draping fabric minimizes my 34DDs and when combined with the lighter grey, stretchy, ponte, fitted bottom it is perfect! The dress does have a higher waist as well, which also helps to minimize my larger chest. The length is right above the knees so it is appropriate for any age. The flocked, black velvet pattern on the bottom skirt portion is both modern and fun. The zipper is on the side so it is very easy to do up by yourself.
You can wear this with some gorgeous shoes like the LE Black Remy High Heel Ghillie Suede Lace-up shoes (also on sale right now!) or high black boots or even booties! You can glam it up with more jewels, a belt, which is not included with this, or wear a cute cardigan over it to keep it more casual.
It does run smaller than most LE/LEC clothing so you might want to order up a size or get 2 sizes to try. I went with the size 10 and I am 5'7" and 140lbs and usually wear a small, or size 8 bottom and size 10 top if there is no stretch. The fabric on this dress is amazingly forgiving and does not show that I've gained a few pounds over the holidays despite the fact that it has pockets on the hips! This is the first fitted dress that I can honestly say that you can't tell that the pockets are even there! Huge bonus...it is WASHABLE at home! No dry cleaning bills for this one!
One thing is for sure, you will get multiple comments with this because it fits like a much higher end designer dress, made for you. A great alternative to an all black dress, it is super comfortable and is an absolute winner for me! Thank you for giving me the courage to go dress shopping again Land's End!

Hard to review but overall lovely & I recommend
Hard to review - good and bad. **Good**: gorgeous fabric and flattering cut, even prettier in person than in ad -- in person it looks like a $200+ dress. The slight stretch in the fabric is slenderizing and looks like velvet yet is not too heavy. Great dress for a party, work, job interview, casual lunch or a date! Now, the **Bad**: ONLY the sizing. I ordered both 12 & 14 (I always one of each size) but, unlike most LE products, neither fit well. I'm small busted but have a larger rear, and am 5'10. Contradicting my "good: flattering cut" comment is this: it is definitely a flattering cut when I stood perfectly still (even with a larger rear), as soon as I walked a couple of steps in the size 14, the dress rode up my back (thanks to my rearend!) thus forcing the waistline and hem up several inches! I know ***it will look beautiful on many women.*** The top was also a little loose on me, so getting a 16 and tailoring would just not work in my case. Wish I could wear it - I'm in NYC and although I'm not a fashion plate, living here in NYC I would feel like one wearing this dress. If you can't decide, DEFINITELY order it. I'm sad to have to return it.
